AIBU?

AIBU to think this is pathetic?

I have had a bad cold for a couple of days now and because of all the stuff that needs done before the DCs break up from school i have just carried on (as you do) but last night it 'got me' so i had a bath and an early night and was actually sleeping well. I was woken by DH at 4am shivering and rubbing his hands together saving fffffucking ffffreezing. I was annoyed at being woken up in what was my first full nights sleep in over a week and pissed off that after half an hour of his pathetic moaning it was ME that got up and put the heating while he lay there shivering. I had already told him to get up and get his sleeping bag which is in the wardrobe at the end of the bed.

SO WABU to have found it utterly pathetic that a grown man would do that and not sort himself out?

And yes i sound callous and uncaring but if the DCs were cold they would have woken and come and told me and when i checked on them they were all snuggled and warm. It was only DH that was so cold. Admittedly, it was -8 outside when i looked at the weather station.

YANBU.

Your dh was being a big baby and proving that men never grow up. I hope you smothered him with said sleeping bag.

Get well soon.

...after which it took you ages to get back to sleep yourself, I bet.

It's a man thing - we all have a cold at the moment but DH is worsed (obviously). He has made a joke that he's a man so he get's it worse and has given me loads of praise for cooking a roast and doing house work, which is nice, but help would have been nicer. Heyho, that's men for you.

Though, once, when I had the flu (I think it was man-flu even though I am a woman) I lay there in the middle of the night and I was so shivery and achy that I couldn't fathom going downstairs to get some paracetamol, which I really needed.

So I just lay there and cried until DH woke up and then he went and got it for me!!!

I dont know what came over me, I never cry!!!

That's REAL flu.

Man-flu is a heavy cold which men call flu to enable them to be sad pitiful creatures who need looking after instead of getting on with life.

YANBU - but you could have just told him when he first woke you to get up & put the heating on himself surely? Or cuddle up?

I don't understand why you got up and didn't tell him to go turn it on himself.

I did tell him but he carried on shivering and moaning. I can't sleep snuggled up and it makes his snoring too loud. I just wanted to go back to sleep asap!

Its predicted to be -15 at the highest tonight so sleeping bags are out, heating is staying on (more so we don't wake upa frozen hamster!) and there are blankets within reach.

He is currently zonked on the sofa with The Bug that has swept thru our locality. Funny how he gets to be the one that sleeps Hmm

Got DS1 off ill and DS3 is only 2 so not at school and DH usually does the school run by car. I offered to go because that way he doesn't have to go out in the cold if he really is coming down with something (I don't drive but thought DS2 might like the sledge ride).....fuck me was it COLD! And i needed a sleep afterwards Confused

Am now stocked up with Lucozade and Pringles. That seems to keep me going.
