Where do you live and where were they being sent from? Lots of snow disruption on the 6th and for the whole week.

I get all parcels delivered to a neighbour or put in the garage. You need to speak to your postie if this is royal mail.

Imisssleeping · 13/12/2010 18:32

you could have got them delivered to store and free postage !
but it's ridiculous that they can't be more specific in time.

All courier companies have backlogs due to the shite weather in the prevous 2 weeks.
Our company has been advising no next day deliveries/named delveries/ collect in store items because the backlog was so huge.
They also suspended picking up large items from our store for home delivery last week and they still aren't taking them due to the sheer volume of parcels still being sorted which have possibly been in their depots for days.
We hope that will change by Wednesday, but it's this time of year I really feel for delivery drivers.

bollocks. we have had no snow and this was ordered 7 days ago. i refuse to believe the snow backlog theory.

and if there was - why was there not a big red fashing thing appear when they were ordered?

you might not have had snow, but many of the depots have where there has been bad snow, which means they cannot accept new items and so the backlog spreads like an infection through the network.

No idea why there was nothing on the site. There should have been a "sorry, but there may be a possibility of a delay" notice at the checkout screen at least.

they delivered a suit for DP and left it leaning against our front door which is directly on the street, no front garden or anything. I was considering claiming it had been stolen and getting another one just to make a point!

I use M&S online but get them to deliver to local shop. Then I just choose a day to collect it and the timing is up to me. Works if you have a nearby M&S and it's just an out of stock thing, or if like me you hate shopping and want to ensure what you want is in.

Write a letter. You have noting to loose.

Report
panettoinydog · 13/12/2010 18:55

Do you have to sit in for all deliveries? That would mean you could never really order online.

You need to sort that out.

Report
reddaisy · 13/12/2010 18:58

M&S, in my experience, ALWAYS takes ages to deliver and you have to pay for it. I tend to shop online elsewhere now as I don't like their system.

but their trousers fit me so i'll shut up about them now.

All courier companies have a ridiculously scary backlog because of last weeks snow and the snow forecast for the end of this week will only make things worse. The fact you live in an area that is unaffected by snow is largely irrelevant because the sending company/ depot might have been affected and the central sorting depots have also been affected in some cases. Your delays will be less than those who are in snow affected areas, but there will still be delays.

DH works for a courier company and they have a 4-6 day backlog at the moment. DH and many of his colleagues are working 12hrs, 7days a week in order to clear this. DH's depot still has a trailer of parcels at the central depot waiting to be delivered, but there is still 4 days work sat on the depot floor and everyone, including management, is 'busting a gut' to clear it.

As a note to everyone, please be nice to the man/ woman who delivers your parcels. Some of these people (DH being one) haven't had a day off in over 3 weeks and are doing their best to make sure everyone gets their deliveries Xmas Smile

Ordered a dvd from m & s. They are sending it by courier. Unbelievable. What's wrong with royal mail.

Not all couriers are backed up, or need to be so non-specific.

I ordered something online on Sunday, it was delivered Tuesday, I got a text at 8 a.m. saying it would be delivered between 9:07 and 10:07.

That is how to run a courier company. M&S need to buck their ideas up.

Ordered flowers and wine from M&S to be delivered this Saturday to an address in YOrkshire. Got an email from them this evening saying they wouldn't be able to deliver due to weather. Ironically, I could have asked for it to be delivered earlier but wasn't sure there would be anyone there during the week to receive it. Grrr.

M&S are ridiculous. Ordered a hamper on 6 Dec - got an email saying it had been delivered on 13th - only it hadnt! They'd delivered it to a warehouse for the couriers to pick up at some point, cant tell me when it will be delivered and wont give me a refund as, as far as they're concerned, they've delivered it (whereas they bloody well havent). Angry And they didnt even email me to tell me - I found out from my parents (hamper was for their ill neighbours as a prexmas treat) and then had to spend 30 minutes on their customer service line to find out what the hell was going on...

Never using their shite service again.

M&S delivery/online service is crap. Truly awful. Takes ages, free delivery only if you spend ÂŁ150 (is it?). Delivery to store appalling, store not there on time. They need to sort it because they're losing customers.
