If every friggin time I make a suggestion you completely disregard it Angry...I hate suggesting gifts for her anyway as I see it as being very presumptuous.....so when I do think of something appropriate (taking into account cost and whether she will actually like it of not)dont find a reason to say why you think that would not e a good idea!!!!! please stop asking my opinion if you are not gonna listen to me grrrrrrrrr raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Ooh who is this about?

Very good content in your OP, but as it was an Ode I was a bit disappointed in lack of rhyme...

If anyone can do a nice rhyming one, which I can then print out and hand to my mil, I'd be eternally grateful, as would my DCs. Xmas Wink

To my considerate Relly
DD would like a telly
Or a dolly
Or something smelly

A Telly is too much
A dolly she wont touch
Well buy her some bubbles
And thanks for your troubles.

A game would be nice
something with a dice
what do you mean she would lose it
you asked her to Choose it.

Stop leaving the argos out
If your in any doubt
Ask her yourself you are driving me crazy
See what she likes and stop being so lazy.

If you set it to music you could sing it at them. Nobody could be cross at that!

'tis a fine effort.

jingle bells, jingle bells
christmas is nearly here,
if you wanna know what you buy dd,
then kindly lend your ear.

Dashing round the shops,
with an idea in your head,
is fun but you made come unstuck,
so listen to me instead.

jingle bells, jingle bells
christmas is nearly here,
if you wanna know what you buy dd,
then kindly lend your ear.

And you've asked for ideas from me
Smellies or CDs or chocolates and stuff?
Clothes or vouchers? all not good enough?

(to the tune of 'Santa Baby')

MIL dearie
Pop a prezzie under the tree
For DD
But in future please don't ask me
Be a dearie
And make your own decision tonight

or....

On the first day of Christmas my MIL said to me
'What shall I get your DD?'

etc. etc.

Timely thread. I am sitting here seething having opened yet another e-mail from my sister telling me what I now can or can't buy our mother for Christmas. And telling me what she wants for her daughter, and asking whether I forgot her stepchildren's birthdays before telling me what to get them. I hate it. Angry

I am resisting an urge to ask her if she 'forgot' to come and visit us when she came most of the way across the country at half-term.

I like to buy presents for people that I think they might like. I'm prepared to take a risk that they won't, but I think with neices and nephews I'm generally fairly safe. I do not like the shopping list mentality that has developed where I am expected to be able to produce umpteen specific "suggestions" of what my children "want" for Christmas. They will be happy with whatever you choose to give them, because that is how I have raised them.

Sorry. Really needed to vent. Don't mind me. Blush

God help me, yes!

I'm sat here singing them - having spent all weekend answering this very question to all my various rellies about what my 11 month old wants.

(And if one more person says 'what about a walker...?' I'll scream. If they'd seen her recently, they'd know something like that is likely to be completely redundant by Christmas!)

Shouldn't whinge really. They could be getting her nothing!
