Looks aside, I think she is hideous. As my DH says - beauty is only skin deep but ugliness goes right to the bone!

She is so sobeautiful I can barely stand to look at her, she is just too luminous and perhaps I read too much Heat magazine but she seems to have grown up over the last few years and all the crap she has been through with Ashley was just awful.

She's beautiful and people love to worship and worship beauty in particular.

I posted a while ago about how teenage girls I knew wrote about her as the most inspirational woman ever. They had to choose one for a class project. These were intelligent, thoughtful 14 year olds. I thought this was rather concerning until someone pointed out that it's easy to judge as an adult!

Their point was that she had overcome huge odds in order to do so well. She could easily have become involved in drugs like others on her estate etc. They cited she had graduated from the Royal Ballet school - I didn't know that. Turns out she did a summer camp there and left early as she was bullied but guess she still tried.

My thoughts are it is her prettiness that sets her apart. If she was down to earth and could sing as well as she can but looked rather average she simply wouldn't be where she is now.

I don't get it either. There are plenty of stunning, successful women out there that I admire but I just don't see it with her. Doesn't do it for me sorry. Granted, she's not ugly, but she's not THAT great.

She's pretty, rose from a council estate/life of grime to win a TV talent show, was in a hugely successful girl group, married an England football 'star' etc etc - all very Cinderella isn't it? Except the 'happily ever after' bit involved hubby being a tosser very publically, divorce & star on TV's biggest show & (hopefully) a move to USA.

Her main problem is she is completely overcooked/over exposed/overdone now.

She can't sing very well & without her XFactor "status" driving the publicity machine I bet her 'solo' career would have been much more a la Nadine Coyle than number one records.

I watched the Piers Morgan interview with my mum and she said she liked her following that as she felt that she had a lot of the same values as she (my mum) was brought up with. She works hard, is very close to her family, she believed in trying to work on her marriage etc etc. I like her, I think that she's a better role model that Katie Price or Kerry Katona and her new single is pretty catchy.

I can't get too worked up about it either way though.

I have been wanting to ask that question for ages. I find it quite hard with all of these in the media women to believe that they are role models, for what? I agree that she has pulled herself into a charmed life albeit with some not very nice twists and turns (I wouldn't wish infidelity on anyone but it seems to be a footballers "thang"). However, can't really see Girls Aloud as talented - they were manufactured and groomed and have now been disgarded as all girl and boy bands usually are. I think the role model aspect of her life is quite sad, it gives everyone the impression that they can go in a talent show, join a girl band, become famous, marry a footballer, sell their wedding to OK. It isn't that far off from the Kerry Katona's and Katie Prices is it?

None of the above talents have been achieved through hard work and learning, she is a lucky girl who was mouldable by Cowell and his cronies to make him money. I think sets a bad example to people. If I have to have a role model in this arena it would have to be Charlotte Church who is talented, but frankly I hope my DD grows up with more cerebrial role models. Hate to say it but I would prefer a Chelsea Clinton to a Cheryl Cole (God Forbid!)

She's the ultimate package girl - nothing exceptional about the individual parts (looks, body, background, personality, talent) but the sum total is a nice package.

And....have done some work with a pop music producer. I was astonished that I was the one who ended up writing the songs, the producer created the sounds and then presented this to the pretty people stars, who then say yes or no and do some autotuned vocals to it.
