To Think This Guy is a Bit Slack & has the Wrong Attidude for His Job?

as an Events Fund Raising Manager for a big animal charity.

off her own bat, DD decided she wanted to raise money for this Charity by making a "Guy" & going out "Penny for the Guy" & giving all she made to them at an event they were holding at the weekend.

I emailed them over a week ago, asking if the had any fund Raising print outs they could e-mail me, so people would know what she was collecting for & be more trusting of it. I immediately received a very lovely reply from someone saying thank you & that they'd passed my e-mail onto the Department that dealt with this, & they would no doubt send me something straight away.

I've only just got a reply from the fund Raising Manager today Hmm, saying sorry not relied sooner, but they do have a fund raising pack they would send me out to use next year Shock

Okay I'm a bit of a stickler for people actually making an effort with the job they get paid for, & kind of thought with a charity that was even more important & par for the course Confused

so I did send a polite note back, saying thank you, & that after waiting a few days, that I'd managed to make DD a sign & print off the event poster & paste them to a board & though she did do quite well, I'm sure if he'd got back to me sooner, she would of made even more money than she did, as sadly not everyone trusted it was a genuine effort to raise money for the Charity & she was upset by comments along those lines from a few people (true).

I've just had quite a snotty reply back, telling me how busy he is organising the actual events, so doesn't have time for such things Hmm ....now bear in mind, that DDs efforts amounted to quite a big chunk of what they actually made on the event day,

poor DD actually took quite a bit of flak from doing it, including being harassed by a gang of young teens trying to steal from her bucket Angry, & despite being shy & embarrassed when people questioned her about the Charity, & standing out in the cold & the rain, she refused to go home & insisted on standing on her own

okay in the greater scheme of things, DDs contribution is probably quite small, but AIBU in thinking if this Guy was any good at his job, he would realise that encouraging people in doing things like this is actually part of his bl@@dy job Confused[

YANBU.
Even if he is really busy he can be polite and considerate.

Put what you've written here in a letter and respond to him copying the most high profile people / patrons / managers connected with the organisation you can track down.

I would still give them the money in order to Occupy The Moral High Ground Smile

I'd love to know which charity it is, as I used to have links with a national animal welfare charity and know the fundraisers there.

Go do! Do tell! :)

Well I am aware that there have been redundancies at the charities in these tough times and the guy may well be doing twice what he used to for very little pay. Nevertheless I hope you feel proud of dd.

No sorry golden but I won't name & shame so to speak :) as it was just the one Guy & I really wouldn't want anyone to think badly of the charity itself, as they DO, do a lot of amazing work & the people running this particular place are all lovely & work really hard, its pretty obvious they put in a lot of time, over & above what they are paid to do & obviously really care about the animals in their care, they are also very welcoming to everyone that visits, & every time we've been there, they've made DD feel like a star, hence why she was so keen to help raise money for them :)

but that said, to be honest everyone we've ever met there has had a far better attitude than this particular Guy, & I suppose I was just shocked that as the nature of his work, is dealing with the public & no doubt private sector in order to raise funds, so therefore should be IMO MUCH more of a "people" person than he actually wasHmm

onceamal I can see your point, but surely if they are making redundancies & increasing work load, how worrying is it that the person in charge of drumming up funding to keep them ALL in work & look out for the animals, is seemingly so lacking in people skills, you'd think he would be taking his job more seriously, the other staff certainly seem to, its a lovely place

it was also his lame excuse of not having enough time for a pack to reach us post Hmm....which wasn't true & wasting money on postage, when I'd only asked for an e-mail pdf or similar, is pretty cr@p anyway ....& yes VERY proud od DD :)

& yes tondelay DD DID hand over her collection, wouldn't of dreamed of doing otherwise :) ......still torn on what to do, part of me feels as you suggest, maybe I will wait until next time we go & see what I can find out Confused, or see what his response is to my suggesting he organises a printable flyer to save on postage & time - wicked I know, but I feel like I want to wind him up now Wink
