Ok I wouldn't actually do that. But I am p-d off.

Their display started at nine and lasted fifteen mins. Woke DD. I was fairly annoyed but thought fair enough. Silence for ten mins during which time I settled DD. Just as she was setting down the ruddy fireworks started again. Since then it's been about five mins on five mins off.

Seriously, how much ruddy money have they spent on fireworks?? And do they not consider that their neighbours might have young children or pets (I also have a trembling dog at my feet).

Sodding fireworks still going off now. Humph harumph.

I really relate to your pissed-offness. I'm pissed off as we had a number of little displays in our street last night - from about 5pm til about 10pm.

It really is rather annoying and I worry about pets and animals, and wonder how people with small children who may have gone to bed cope.

And then, to cap it all, more tonight and it's not even fireworks night! grrr.

Namey, it's the animal suffering most in this house too. DD fast asleep now but doggy is crammed into the smallest space he could find and trembling.
I know its not late but it's the fact that the sodding things went on for almost an hour which annoyed me.

It's a couple of nights a year. With the doors and windows closed you can hardly hear them, turn the TV on and it will all go away....

I know this may sound extreme, but I still believe that fireworks should be banned from private residencies and private use. They are too dangerous and an annoyance (although I know great fun).

If everyone paid what they spend on fireworks to go in to an organised display it'd be a lot safer, and think of the amazing displays!

Well yes it is annoying, but it is just one lot of fireworks so I think YWBU to knock on there door at 6am.

I would much rather fireworks were for organised displays too, but they are not so there is not alot that can be done. It is crazy round here tonight(and was yesterday), constantly going off in all ditrections. Our poor little Rabbit is not eating and needs lots of reassurance.

Just a thought, maybe the fireworks are on for 5 mins, then off for 5 mins, then on agin for 5mins, as your neighbours are trying to do them as safely as possible? Taking time setting up properly, making sure they are completely out etc.

Agree that they should be banned for private use.

We let our puppy out for his early morning wee today and were lucky that we noticed before it was too late that he was sniffing, and likely to start chewing an old firework.

And this evening as we were driving home a firework landed on the roof of our car.

I love watching them at big displays, but they are evil when used in residential areas.

I know I am being a bit of a grump. And to be fair all is now calm in the cake household. I just really detest fireworks anyway. I think they are annoying and a waste of money. So the fact that this year they are disturbing my pfb has made me irate!!

Thanks for the tip for next year. She is fine with the far away bangs, it's just the hour long artillery just outside her window which caused a bit of disturbance.

Still quite want to disturb the neighbours at silly o'clock tomorrow... But won't for fear of starting a game of tit for tat. And because it is probably rather unreasonable!

I am a bit annoyed with fireworks in gardens too. There were a few going off last night that sounded as though they were right outside our door - turns out they probably were since there was a rocket on our path and on the roof of dh's car!!!

We live in an estate where people mostly have small gardens and certainly none are big enough to make rockets reasonable. They weren't on late and didn't deserve the boys but they were bloody big bits of wood in our garden and on our car - thank goodness we were inside!!!

Do you live next door to me?!?! The house backing onto us did exactly the same thing. DD (11 months) has just eventually gone back to sleep at 10 o'clock. It was the 5 mins of bangs, then 5 mins off that annoyed me too. Surely they do not need to have fireworks that are those really, really, really loud ones?!?! Ban them all I say!

chipping she actually doesnt disturb anybody bless her as she was prem and just has a teeny cry. Plus an over attentive mummy!!
I stick to my opinion that folk shouldn't have extended 'displays' in built up areas but totally understand that others have different opinions (my neighbours for one!)

Anyway I had best get to sleep as who knows when DD will decide she fancies a cuddle in the night

Of course there are going to be fireworks this weekend. It's not like it's the early hours of the morning.

Our neighbours are still going now (11pm). It's annoying - but in the scheme of things it doesn't really rank much on my give a shit ometer and it's definitely not in the realms of getting out of bed at 6am on a Sunday on there.

You can't expect the entire world to plan around your child. Fireworks on bonfire night and the surrounding weekend - not unexpected.
