Im in a really shitty mood. Its my birthday on sunday and i had arranged a party for saturday. Its an ann summers party since i have the twins and cant go out. I also thought it would be something everybody would enjoy and it would be a good chance to get all my friends together. When i sent the invites out everybody said great will be there. Now everybody is canceling cos they have better things to do. Looks like there will only be about 4 people.
I really should know by now not to plan anything cos it just reminds me that i really dont matter to my friends. I always make a big deal of their birthdays and ill be lucky if i get 2 cards. The only presents i will get is the 1 my friend takes my daughter to buy today (with money i give obviously) and the cake my friend will make. I hate birthdays, i hate being on my own and i hate that i could disapear and really nobody would notice

You're lucky to have such a good friend! Also, I dont have more than 3 or 4 friends I COULD invite..all my older ones ae abroad or at the other end of the country.

SO you ABU....be happy with what you have. My last Birthday was spent i the house with my best friend and a bottle wine.

you're not 6 anymore...

But an ann summers party means you invite people round and they're expecting to buy things
I'd rather a takeaway and some wine than being forced to buy a load of crap lingerie !

That's true...about having to buy things...maybe they dont have any cash?

YABU. Really birthdays are no big deal once you are not a child - just my opinion though. Think it's a bit sad to be bothered by it. If people remember then it's nice but if they don't well.....as someone said, you are not 6 anymore.

Buy yourself a bottle of champagne and some nice foody bits and have them with whoever turns up. Just enjoy it whatever happens.

Personally I hate my birthday - just reminds me of how old I am getting!

Its not that its in our group we always make a big deal for peoples birthdays. All but mine. Was the same last year. I know its not about the money cos they are ordering stuff just wont be coming. Its like since the twins were born (their 13 weeks) ive lost my use. I cant babysit or taxi for people anymore so they just dont bother.

Oh I don't know fititot Birthdays are a big deal in our house!!
I have a meal out with Dh and kids and open my presents and then on a day or so before I have a meal out with mates and have my presents. I love it so I can undestand why Starshaker is disapointed. Maybe Anne Summers wasn't the best idea tbh.

Star say to your mates 'change of plan- I'm having my birthday do at my house on ...., come round and we'll have some drinks.' That may be better.

I often forget my friends birthday. There are about 9 of us who meet up so we just ring or text and say 'don't forget it's my birthday at the end of the month, what are we doing?

Be more casual and relaxed and don't always expect people to do the running. You have to make your own happiness sometimes.
