To think we are being wound up

Every tues I like to buy a certain magazine ( not sure if we can name them or not I'm relatively new to mumsnet) anyway I was reading one of the true life stories " benefits paid for my £4k boob job, now I want a tummy tuck". A 32 year old mother of of 4, who "doesn't think her children should miss out because she's never worked" apparently receives £870 housing benefit, £975 tax credit £260 income support and £303 child benefit, council tax benefit and free school meals.
She has a £2000 holiday every year, refuses to buy cheaper brand clothes so her kids wear Armani and at a push she'll shop at next. They have all the games consols but the poor little blighters have 2 share 3 laptops, she spends £2400 pounds on teeth whitening , waxing etc.

Now 2 of my friends are on benefits and they are quite frankly pretty skint, so do you think this artical is a wind up?, as so far I'm yet to meet a wealthy benefit claimantHmm

yeah, you get them in the daily mail all the time.

Living on benefits is not easy - it certainly doesn't pay for boob jobs, holidays or teeth whitening! In our case, it rarely covers bills and food.

(and naming said mag is perfectly okay on here)

These well off benefit claimants only exist in magazine/newspaper articles, don't they? My friend on benefits barely scrapes by with food, let alone fucking beauty treatments Hmm

I think that if you read more closely, the article says that she paid for the norks with a loan which she is paying back out of her benefit money, so not really the same. They skew things to wind us up, yes. It's our job to ignore and not be manipulated by such crap.

Ah... the sketch show of pantomime villains that fills the popular press. Who is this coming along boys and girls? Oh yes, it's Little Miss Boob Job on Benefits making us angry. And here's Mr Lots of Kids by Lots of Women, using your cash to repopulate Suffolk single-handed. Tomorrow we'll have Mr Foreigner that Doesn't Like Us but Lives Here Anyway, Mr Overpaid Footballer Getting his End Away and Not Setting a Good example, and next week a welcome return visit from Mr Evil Businessman and the Naughty Goings On in his Tax-Free Haven.

Boo....
