to be scared of going to Ikea

They actually have something I like but I cant buy it on line so I have got to actually go to one of their stores.

I have only been once and that was to use the loo.

I asked on another forum about long queues and having to walk in the one direction but was told there are arrows on the floor but you dont have to walk the way they want you to.

I dont want to go but really like a wall lamp they have.

I need reassurance that all will be OK

just go, dont go at the weekend, it is horrendously busy and makes me exceedingly grumpy - week days are fine.

I never follow the arrows, I walk very quickly to where I need to be and then walk very quickly to the exit.

The Southampton store is a bloody nightmare, 7000 escalators just to get to the entrance!

Go in the evenings on a week day, it's usually quieter.

No I am fine with other shops but I have heard funny stories about Ikea- people either love it or hate it I have even been told the experience is surreal

You need to get into the IKEA mentalily.

Just folow the signs, and you will kiss good bye to two hours of your life, adn £70 on things you didn't know you needed, but really, really do when you are there.

Or outsmart the system, and take the short-cut doors to the area you want (go during the evening when it's quieter) and you will emerge feeling like an evil genius.

Everything will be fine.

(beware the tealights, you will end up buying a bag of 100 of these fuckers for about tuppence, and then they will live in the cupboard under your sink, gathering dust, and every time you go for the bleach you will see them and think..."oh yeah, I really should use those tealights" and the next time there is a powercut they will have moved to a different cupboard and you will think "I'm sure I had 100 tealights from Ikea in here somewhere..." and then the power will come back and they'll be back in the cupboard under the stairs, and there they will sit, silently taunting you, until you throw them away in shame and irritation)

Go on a weekday, without the kids if you can, you can walk in whichever direction you like, and it will be fine.

I dont like shopping much, but we used to live 2 mins away from an IKEA in Cheshire and it was one of the few shops I enjoyed going to.

Must be tough living on an Island when it comes to shopping, but I bet you'be got a fab lifestyle / nature / freedom / scenery etc.

YANBU - I broke out in a sweat there the other day and I was only trying to buy a chilren's boxed meal for my child.. Nothing is simple in Ikea.
