Just dropped off ds at nursery and this is usually my free time. All chores are done and I am so tired, but mil is staying and I can't face her non stop nonsensical , bigoted narrowminded babble. I just want to cry or run away. She us here for another 3 weeks.

:( Could you not go for a walk / look round the shops / coffee with a friend? Not that you should feel forced out of your own home of course, but maybe a bit of time out would do you good?

Wow. Can you pop and have a coffee and a cake first? Ask the mil to help, it'll keep her busy.

Go out to 'buy groceries' and get a coffee and a magazine and chill out for a bit

The library maybe? Ours has sofas tucked away in corners, just asking to be napped on.

Or, could you go home anyway and have a nice long bath?

Another three weeks? Go score some drugs and get something nice and pampering done. Incidentally, the letters in Mother in Law spells Woman Hitler. Wink

Buy a book, go home and have a bath. For several hours.

Or, go to the library.

Plus, have a word with your DH. If his mother is making you that unhappy in your own home, he should have words.

well wandered around for a bit then had to come home to get something... just sorted out DS's baby clothes(!!!) to get away from her. he is nearly 3
She just doesn't stop.. she told me yesterday firstly that I remind her of DH's first wife... then she said I actually look like her!

and she keeps pinching DS.. playfully, but just leave him alone please!

She drives DH crazy too, he will tell her what I ask him too though.
But the thing is she really does mean well, she just talks, I think she actually says what most people say in their head!

off out again now, going to the charity shop to talk DS's clothes, gonna go for a coffee, or maybe even a glass of wine!!!
My alcohol consumption is definitely increasing!

i am going to give her a list of jobs to do...
as she keeps telling me... bookcase is dusty, windows need cleaning, that shouldn't go there, paint is peeling off the windows etc etc.
She has done 2 fabulous jobs for me yesterday and today. But she can't just get on and do it, she has to give me a running commentary, and she moves the washing on the line every 20mins and asks me what I think. And she asked me 10 times if the recycling lorry had been yet.
and she has used 6, yes 6, kitchen rolls, in 2 days!

She sounds exactly like my MIL. It was hard while we were living in anotehr country as she would come and stay for 2 weeks. It was torture. Now I manipulate things so she only comes at weekends while dh is here so I can escape. It doesn't really work when we are both in the house at the same time as she just can't stay in her box and takes over the kitchen etc. She has no boundaries and like yours says whatever she has in her head and gets me involved in mundane tasks that she is carrying out. With 3 dc I just don't have time to listen to her theories ramblings on all kinds of things usually narrow minded and sometimes quite bigoted Grin We've been married for ten years and only now can I see that she's just a bit mad and I don't get as stressed as I used to... HTH and good luck. 3 weeks. I'd go insane Wink

I am in favour of the mooch round the shops and get a coffee/new book idea. I think you need some physical space from her. 3 weeks is a heck of a long time to have someone in your house (even if they don't annoy you).

Book/newspaper and cafe.

I take the view if someone is going to clean my house for me they can make all the bitchy comments they like because I would rather hear them than do it myself. Wink

she has just discovered daytime television
have had Jeremy Kyle, the michael ball show, cleverer than a 10 year old.
and yes she is giving me a running commentary. I am sitting 3feet away from her, trying to do some work and make some phone calls.

What the hell is she doing there? Is she rich, do you have an inheritance to lose if you offend her? Blood is not thicker than water. tell her to fuck off back home. FFS.

She is just visiting over from Australia. Tbh now I am just kinda laughing to myself. We went shopping this morning for some clothes for her and it was the most trying experience of my life! I have 2 days left this week, then she is off for the weekend with dh, and I get some peace.

Mine was down for the weekend, what a pity I was working Smile. She thought there had been an alarming incident, when probed what happened was someone went out, someone knocked at the door then went away and the dogs barked. This constitutes high drama. I went to bed very early (what a pity I had to get up for work Wink).
