Im selling some stuff on ebay.

Now I luuurve a bargain and ive been put off ebay cos of high postage charges, therefore the stuff im selling is at the very dearest £3 fpr a pair of adult jeans I know it will cost about £2.50 to post and then the packaging etc so I rarely make any money on postage at all (on one occasion I charged £2 and the postage was a mindblowing 90p and I actually reimbursed the buyer a £1 through pay pal)

So aibu to be cross when asked if I can post any cheaper?.

Just add a standard foot-note that you do not expect to make any profits from postage.

and if anyone thinks your being unreasonable, suggest they pick it up their bloody selves.

yanbu I just ordered somethin with £4.41 p&p and when it arrived it had ecactly that amount on the printed stampy bit!!!

I was impressed [grin}

I often find sellers will offer to cheaper postage if a buyer is ordering more than one iten from the seller.

See my postage is so cheap usually £2 or less even if people buy more than 1 item i cant really go any cheaper - bearing in mind I tissue wrap then plastic wrap then brown paper wrap so they get their items in great condition.

I know this is a bit of an irrelevent tip but:

Whenever you buy anything, save all the packageing. People dont mind if its re-used so long as the items obviously well protected. Also, self-storage companies often sell packageing for very low prices at their premesis.

No its a great tip I was a bit worried at christmas when it was very bad weather so I actually used packaging from a catalogue and apologised to the buyer explaining it was more durable -she was great about it ....ive had things sent to me in bin liners - arrived here fine but I like to package them up nicely.

I don't mind paying a bit more for postage if the items are well-packed like yours....I bought DD some trainers last week, and by the time I got them, they were hanging out of the brown paper, amazingly they had stayed together as a pair!

I don't mind spending more on postage if it means the item is recorded in some way. Have had so many things not turn up and also I would never send anything I couldn't track through the post-office as people do try it on sometimes.

I charge £4 for a pair of adult jeans posted first class and only wrap in those plastic bags. No-one has complained yet!

It is meant to be against the rules but people up their postage as they don't pay fees on postage costs- this is why you can get things for 99p then pay £5 postage.

I save all packaging bags and those padded envelope things...drives DH mad but very handy for eBay-ing and Christmas! YANBU, I tend to stick to around £3 for postage for reasonable weight items like jeans, perhaps a bit cheaper for really light items like tops. If the difference is reasonable I won't refund but if it is more than say 50p in that £3 then I will.

I have seen many sellers stating that their postage incorporates packaging, getting to post office etc.

what I hate as a seller is the restrictions on postage that can be charged. I tried to sell a bulk load of sun hats and whilst I accept that one or two are very light, there was no way that the postage for 22 (built up over years with the dcs) would be under the £4 which was the maximum they would let me charge!!

I tend to weigh the item and calculate the postage cost from the Royal Mail website and as others have said save incoming packaging to re use .

This p*sses me off too. I have sold some stuff this evening. One winning bidder contacted me to ask when she could send her courier to collect it.

I replied that she couldn't as there is no way I have time to sit in all day to wait for a courier.

She then said she couldn't complete the sale as she couldn't afford the postage. WTF? I have stated clearly in the listing that the postage is an estimate and that I will refund over and above what it actually costs me to send the thing. Its not as if i have suddenly sprung it on her! I am livid and have just wasted the whole bl**dy evening trying to find an alternative as she just doesn't have the money in her paypal account.

I don't see why you think it is reasonable to request anyone to wait in all day for your convenience without asking first! or to bid on an item you can't afford! Grrrrr

If she leaves me a negative feedback after this I will probably burn her house down

(Disclaimer - clearly I won't do anything of the sort but I an ranting)
