My ds is nearly a year old.He has soya formula as screamed his head off and had horrid nappies etc when younger. For the last 3 or 4 weeks his nappies have been awful. He has not had a 'normal'poo and they smell horrid[you know what I mean!]Sometimes he has a day without a poo..We have worked out that oats make his nose run and he becomes very snorty and bad tempered and whingy.I am just so confused.
I thought maybe it is teething but it has been going on for so long.
I wondered if I should remove wheat, dairy etc and see how he is and then reintroduce things. What do people think?
I am getting woried. He is gaining wait and has remained steady but he hasn't been weighed since this started.
Also could it be fruit?
Sorry if this is garbled!

I would see a doctor and ask about getting him tested for allergies. I know many doctors aren't sympathetic to this, but you may get lucky. otherwise could you afford to get him tested privately?

I don't think it's a good idea to cut too much out of his diet tbh, not without being really sure that it's a problem

Please think hard before cutting out major food groups as it's hard to get a balanced diet without them. Suggest advice from a dietician before you try excluding things. If GP not being helpful either keep pushing or go to another GP in practice. There is usually one who will have a special interest or just be more helpful. Sounds miserable though. Hope you manage to get things sorted out soon

Hi fleximum.I thought I should stop wheat and dairy for a couple of days to see how his nappies are and then gradually reintroduce.I have phone dthe doctor this am and have an appt.

an alternative to removing dairy is to add probiotics. They are good at helping digestive problems and help to digest the lactase in milk. Using soya formula is linked to nut allergy later, he'd be better on something like Pepti Junior. He could also be developing an allergy to soya.

There can be amazing differences between gps in the same practise, it's worth seeing a different one or a dietician.

Hi Doobydoo
Problem with cutting out is that to see if any improvement you usually havee to cut them out for more than a few days which makes adequate intake difficult. Hope the doctor is helpful.
