The German brand Lavera seems fine for my dds both of whom react to many suncreams.

Not cheap but quite natural and not too hard to find online.

Try using boots own sun cream - my ds has eczema and some sun creams make it flare up and very sore, after alot of persistnce at the docs they eventually found out he is allergic to lanolin which is in lot of moisturisors and suncreams. E45 is one of the worst - boots own suncream (apple) does not contain lanolin. Hope this helps

I have problems with suncream too - had massively unpleasant rash one year in Portugal after using one of the waterproof-glues-to-your-skin-lets-nothing-in-or-out ones.

Maybe try a non-waterproof one?

What else do you put on his skin for eczema?

LOL at poo blaming. Bath of poo is particularly grim, isn't it?!

We use Proderm mousse (used to be called Bergaderm). Ds was just the same as yours and we tried so many types before finding this one. It's recommended by the eczema society. They have a list of 4 that they recommend. Afraid you can't get it in the shops - but it's readily available on t'internet! DS doesn't have any probs with it at all.

HTH

It's worth looking for Proderm in Sainsbury's - I know they had some in the spring, no idea if they still do as I don't shop there any more...

My ds has bad excema on his face. I tried some Lavera on him yesterday and so far it hasn't flared up. lavera.co.uk.

I bought my daughter (2.9) and stepson (10) UV protection t-shirts as they have very pale, delicate skin. I got them in France, at Decathlon, for peanuts (a few euros each) in quite nice colours, and they wear them to death in the sun and when swimming outdoors.

Sunscreens have improved hugely but there are emerging issues with them producing free radicals (ie they cause cancer) and it really is preferable to cover children up with t-shirts and hats and keep them in the shade as much as possible. And that way you avoid the irritation issues.

If you want to use sunscreen, try the Avène brand (available at Boots). The Factor 40 spray is excellent for all the family.

They have a sunscreen at Neal's Yard made without that horrible aluminium stuff, that also contains lavender. Maybe this would be better than standard brands.

Just for info, the Avène brand is particularly good for eczema sufferers - the waters at Avène relieve/cure eczema and the products are excellent and as natural as possible. Expensive, but really good quality.

I recently got some Australian stuff called "ZO1 Body Protection Lotion" for DS (very dry skin with excema) and it's fab. Uses a form of transparent zinc oxide instead of chemicals to block the sun.
