Dairy allergy appearance during weaning?

My son is just 7-months and we started dairy products at the health vistor's suggestion as he needs to put on some weight. 48 hours after starting he broke out in a moderate rash that has lasted (spread too) for 4 days now, though it doesn't seem to bother him. GP uncertain but thought it may be dairy and suggested I cut yogurt.

What symtpoms did your little ones show of the allergy? How did you confirm that they did indeed have this?

Many, many thanks.

My son's reaction to giving him dairy (which he was and still IS, at 7, allergic to) was instant.
Swollen eyes, face and lips.

Could it be something else, washing powder eg?

bumping this for you as I don't know much about it.
I think that you need to cut it out, let the symptoms disappear, then reintroduce the suspected allergen. If it recurs, then there is a problem.
I did this with banana. It gave ds nappy rash. So I let his bum recover, then gave him banana again. Lo and behold, more nappy rash, so I suspect he has an issue with bananas..

My son had a similar rash after I introduced dairy. He had always been sicky and windy and this was the confirmation that I had been looking for for my suspicions (his brother had had bad reflux aggrevated by dairy/soya as well). I took dairy out of his diet and have been trying it on and off since checking for reactions, he now seems to be ok with it at 12 months.

my dd's dairy intolerance resulted in red swollen face and tiny blisters around her mouth.....think it tends to be around the area of intake, but please don't quote me on that...everyone is different.

Best of luck.
