Wheat free lunch box ideas?

Has anyone got any ideas for a wheat free school lunch?

My dd is 4.5 yo and allergic to egg, wheat, soya and nuts. Breakfasts and dinners are no problem but lunches are, esp. at school.

The bread she can have (Ener-G) is fine toasted, but not very nice untoasted - not v. prcatical at school! So far I have been giving her rice cakes and untoasted Ener-G bread, with other foods like fruits and yogurts (thankfully she's not allergic to milk! )

Recently she's eaten the fruit and yogurt but left the bread / rice cake. I'd love to give her more variety and nicer food, but I can't think of anything! She's fine with oats and other forms of gluten - it's just wheat we have to avoid.

Any ideas pretty pretty please?

I use the large round corn thins (available in the free from and crisp aisles} I butter them like bread and put sandwich filling in the middle. My dlo dips them in Houmus and it goes down really well as he doesnt like the bread un toasted. His favourite is ham but you can put anything in the middle.

Also you can now buy theese mini pack lucnh thermos that you can put soup or pasta meals in (use corn pasta) it keeps them warm for 6 hours. Do you want me to find you a link??

Forgot to say as well she may not be impreesed by a corn thin sandwich at first, But if you tempt her with jam ones first she wont then mind when you sneaklily swap for tuna or ham. Good Luck

thank you for those ideas. I like the idea of giving her somehting hot.

I'll look out for the corn thins as well - I have a feeling we used them once, ages ago and dd wasn't keen - but having them with jam to start with is a great idea. I just want her to have more variety really!

Thanks again

I never found anything good enough to substitute for bread in school lunches.
this particular allergy is a pain for packed lunches.

onion bhajis are usually heat free, if you can find ones that arent too spicy, and if she likes them.
sushi??
agree that pasta and rice/corn/beans salads are a good fallback.

I used to end up ondering round the city of london, and eventually buying hazelnuts from holland and barrett for lunch.
