Am try to go wheat and dairy free. dcs have a lot of mucous which then cannot shift. have been recommended this route as good approach to try to help reduce / eliminate excessive mucous production. can anyone recomment any decent recipe books / meal planners.

there's a bookc alled the allergy induced autism cookbook that does a lot of this- haven't got it but its supposed to be OK.

I get by with DS1 (casein / gluten) pretty much making itn up as I go along . there's a peanut squares recipe in the Domestic Goddess cookbook that can be made dairy / gluten free and is yum .

Eating out is the biggest issue- wacky warehouse now have gluten / dairy free option on their menu as I discovered last night. Not a classy restaurant but now gets my vote LOL!

I know that book peachyclair mentioned - have had it from the library it is good.

What we do:

Replace cows milk by soya or rice milks
replace cheese for cooking by soya cheese

Replace wheat pasta with supermarkets free from ranges
Otherwise use rice or potatoes

Snacks and breads are the hard things. I do get specialist breads from health food shop - have you got one near you. They can be really helpful and a great source of ideas.

Do you have a breadmaker? If not then I'd recommend getting one and making your own wheat free bread. I have a bread recipe book with a good wheat free section in it - 'the breadmaker bible' I think it's called.

Muminfife - am intrigued by your potatoes roasted with oatmeal? Can you tell me more please?
