What do you use instead of cream when cooking?

Many recipes I'd like to prepare include cream or ricotta or cheese ... things like chicken and mushroom in creamy sauce, beef stroganoff, moussaka, lasagne ...

You can get soya cream which is actually quite nice.

I use soya cream - it's actually very nice and the rest of the family don't notice the difference if it's in a well flavoured sauce

Coconut milk! Or coconut cream if you need it thicker or richer. Yum.

You can also make cashew cream if you're including nuts. And there's a lot of recipes ideas for using silken tofu for a ricotta-like consistency.

Maybe Google vegan recipes and start from there?

I haven't tried this in the recipes above, but it's a cream cheese that is dairy and soya free.

I've ordered it via online shopping with tesco, as well as picking up in store.

My DS loves this, and I've used it in pasta sauce to make them creamier etc. See no reason why it wouldn't work in the things you have mentioned. :)

I haven't tasted it, but my toddler is VERY fussy. He adores this. It's his favourite food in fact!

I used to use Oatly oat cream when DS1 couldn't take dairy.

Oatly cream isn't guaranteed wheat free so I've been avoiding it. But wish it was guaranteed wheat free.

I've been dairy free with him for 21 months now. I wish I'd known about this much sooner! Life would have been much easier!

He likes to dip breadsticks and veggies in it. Spreads it on bagels. He shouts NICE CHEESE when he sees it!

DS has dairy & soy allergies and loves oatly cream. I make a nice creamy sauce with gnocchi/pasta, works well in mash and he has stawberries or cake with cream.

I have coeliac disease so it's out for me as it's not gluten free. Co-yo plain yogurt works well as creme fresh.

Oatly does a cream which is good for cooking with (and avoids the other allergens like cashew and soy and corn). Doesn't change the flavour the way coconut cream does.

Sorry; just realised i hadn't seen half the threads; you've already got oatly sussed! You can buy it in our local waitrose (which isn't particularly big); near the UHT milk, you can buy it online with ocado & tesco with your normal shop (at least in my area you can).
