Eumovate out of stock everywhere? Help!

My son has severe eczema that is generally kept under control with lots of emollients, some hydrocortisone and eumovate on any bad areas. The last 2 months when I've requested his repeat prescription, the chemist has told me that they can't get hold of any eumovate as it's long term out of stock everywhere. Has anyone else had this problem? We're getting really desperate and I don't know what to do. Is there a suitable alternative that I should be asking the GP to prescribe? Mind you, I've been trying to get a suitable appointment for 2 weeks without success! I just can't stand the thought of his skin going back to how it was before we started using eumovate Sad

I tried loads of online pharmacies but all out of stock. Found one that said it was in stock, ordered and paid for 3 then 2 days later had email saying my order had been cancelled and refunded due to item being long term out of stock. Will try the one you suggested ThreeQuartersEmpty thank you

Could you get betnovate or demovate as a temporary alternative?

Bugger I was going to get some for dd tomorrow.
If by any chance I do I'll buy an extra one and post it on.

Lots of the steroid creams are having distribution issues at the moment. I've run out and everything my gp prescribes as a substitute is also out of stock!

Can you get betnovate rd? It's a moderate topical steroid like eumovate.

I've had exactly the same problem. Glaxo Smith kline have lost the licence to produce eumovate and now it has gone generic so other companies can produce it too. You need to ask your GP surgery to prescribe Clobetasone. This is the drug name and the ointment we finally got is called Clobovate. Exactly the same ingredients just different producer. The ointment and cream versions both come in 30g and 100g tubes. I had a very stressful couple of weeks getting to the bottom of this. I have had most luck at an independent pharmacy and they told me end of last week they are not having trouble sourcing it now so you should be able to get it.

Good luck.

Thanks greencybermummy. I'm pretty sure his prescription says clobetasone not eumovate so I don't understand why we're having such problems?

Yes I've had the same problem, my dd was prescribed betnovate as an alternative. Can you go to gp and ask for an alternative?

Clobetasone is eumovate. Dds prescription said the same. I don't know why though.
