Milk Allergy/intolerance please help.

Hi,

I want to start a campaign to get the supermarkets to stock cornetto and Magnum type ice cream. They are available in other European countries but not in this country.

They are manufactured by a company called Swedish Glace and are called Peak Lollies and Pearl Lollies, if you google them you'll see what they are. Swedish Glace are already stocked by most supermarkets, mostly the vanilla but some also do the chocolate, neopolitan and I've recently found out that there are also some around the country that do other fruity flavours. The importers are Unilever and they've told me that they did sell these lollies in the UK a long time ago but they didn't sell well. I'm sure they would now if parents were aware of their availability. In order to get Unilever to import them we have to get the supermarkets requesting them.

My five year old has Autism, Asthma and several severe food allergies meaning that although he loves food and isn't fussy he can't have a broad range of food. These new lollies would make him sooo excited and bring a little pleasure into his life. He's never had anything like a magnum or a cornetto. I'm sure your little ones would feel the same.

I've emailed Tesco, Sainsburys and Asda as these supermarkets are the ones nearest to me and I've asked them could they be stocked in my local stores. If you could do the same with your local supermarkets and they get enough requests they may trial them, if they sell enough they would then likely stock them permanently.

What a fab idea. My son has dairy anaphylaxis and hyper IgE syndrome/eosinophilia. He loves Swedish Glace - but would love even more to have a cornet - like the kids get from the ice cream van. Will e-mail supermarkets alongside you.

Why don't you start up an online letter/petition that people can sign?

DS used to love the Swedish Glacé magnums. I was gutted when our local supermarket stopped stocking them. Unfortunately I just don't think there's enough demand. They used to stock the Neapolitan ice cream too but now only have vanilla.

ocado have 4 flavours and i emailed them to ask re the lollies

I have e-mailed Ocado too as they are good at stocking dairy free stuff.
