Allergies and intolerances

Child sensitivity to oranges/satsumas?

My DS is 16 months old and he gets a dotty red rash under his nose and around his mouth about 15 minutes after eating orange, I'm sure it's caused by this but obviously I'm not sure.

Does this merit a trip to the GP or are reactions like this common? It doesn't seem to cause itching or breathing difficulties but do sensitivities like these get worse or would that have already happened? I realise there are differences between allergies, sensitivities and intolerances but I don't know when/if medical intervention is required if the symptoms don't appear to be dangerous. He has been constipated lately, hence the oranges but they don't seem to be working which I think is an odd reaction to them, but this might just be coincidence. However, I don't want to leave something that can lead to worse symptoms when it could be sorted.

TIA :).

My daughter was allergic to oranges when she was little. The HV told me to keep trying her with the foods she was allergic too every 6 months or so providing the reactions weren't really bad. She grew out of it eventually.

Thank you for the replies, I'll make an appointment with the GP just to make sure it's not serious. Sounds common though so I'm not as concerned, fingers crossed he grows out of it he's hard enough to get fruit and veg into at the best of times, but then again this might be why.

Though I should update:

I went to the GP after his poor face really erupted despite avoiding everything I thought it could be. The GP said it was an infection from his nose which was being aggravated by contact with saliva. He has a 5 day course of antibiotics which don't seem to be making much of a difference at this point, as it turned out not to be an allergy I thought I should update incase anyone else finds themselves with a similar question.
