extreme eczema 3months old baby plus allergy? ?

Ds2 is 3months.He has really bad eczema which keeps flaring up all red and angry.Ive been to gp 3times.
Hes had
Aqueous cream
Oilinatum
Diprobase
Aveeno
E45
Steriod cream
And finally hydromol which is helping a little.
We were going to change his milk to nutrimigen but it's starting to clear a little with hydromol amd steriod.

I did get some very useful info from there eg
Porridge oats in the bath
Loose cotton clothing
Keep moisturising
Etc

Someone mentioned that when a child has bad eczema at 3months theres often an allergy to link to it like food or environment.
Can anyone help on the allergy bit.
Dont feel its food as right now it's a little settled but ive n changed food just been given the hydromol. So what environmentally could he be allergic too?

This sounds like my daughter, it turned out to be a cows milk protein intolerance. Take her to a gp that specialising in allergies and eczema as often normal GP won't know, (my regular gp had no idea) stop using anything in the bath and moisturisers, make sure the steroid cream is more than 10% don't put baby on carpet and try to get some 100% organic cotton clothes.

Can't help re allergies - DD's was never severe enough to investigate, though it's true it is better since she started solids and dropped some milk.

This is entirely my opinion but I've been committed to non toxic household products since DD. I use hydrogen peroxide as a general non toxic cleaner. Minimal washing powder, and use something approved by National Eczema bods - I love Simply Pure.

Re skin care: bath minimally, replace soap with Epaderm or simiar, in fact, Epaderm isn't on your list of what you've tried - give it a go, it worked for us. Apply creams 10+ times a day (seriously). Get GP to check for secondary infection, anti fungal creams can help enormously. Don't be afraid of steroids, in moderation they can arrest a huge flare up. Wash his clothes at 60 to kill dust mites. Avoid wool like the plague.

Personal experience only, for my DS every time, it is a reaction, food (dairy, wheat, sesame, peanuts, tomatoes, soya, berries, coconut) something in the creams (petroleum, nut / seed oils though not all), something he has worn or had other contact with, at the moment he is reacting left right and centre to anything with rubber in including the bath mat he has had in the bath for ages. In my experience, creams, steroids, topical treatments can ease discomfort but removing the triggers removes the reactions.

Its flaring up a lil today but admittedly ive only put hos cream on once as we've been out a while.

Hello, my baby nephew suffers with eczema and gets extremely itchy, my sister bought these scratch sleeves to stop him damaging his skin. Although they won't sort the eczema as such they made a massive difference to him, so may be worth a try? My sister is a GP and absolutely raves about these to any itchy little ones! Hope it helps xx

It is worth asking the question re allergies as creams etc may only help soothe rather than solve. It does sound like the treatments are helping but perhaps not fully?
Does he have any other symptoms - loose stools, constipation, irritability particularly when lain down, reflux/colic, wind - any of these in combo with the ezcema could indicate possinle cows milk allergy

My 3 month old son has bad eczema on his face and his Paediatrician said this is partly to do with his cows milk protein allergy & reflux. He drinks neocate formula & has oilatum cream put on every 2 hours as well as the bath additive which helps.
It does seem to flare up more when hes hot so we try to keep his temperature steady at all times.
I would demand an appointment with a paediatrician thats exactly what i did they know way more & can help a lot more than GPs

Cows milk and soy cause eczema for DS. Friends DD had terrible eczema and has an egg allergy.

Definitely worth looking into.

Similar to other posters, my son had eczema mainly on his face as a baby, but it all cleared up once I eliminated cows milk, egg, soya and peanuts from my diet ( I was breast feeding him and the traces in my breastmilk were causing the eczema.) Turned out he had a severe peanut allergy and moderate allergy to the other three. As well as cats! We had tried many other creams...but it was all food related.
