Ds who is 4 has been suffering from excema for a couple of years, but he tends to have a flare up every few weeks. I am pretty sure somehng he is eting is causing it. to help me work out what it is, how long after eating a problem food do you tend to See a flare up? He is really bad this evening but hasn't had anything unusual today. He did have 2 satsumas though last night. Many thanks

My dd has had massive eczema flare ups after allergic reactions to tomatoes and peanuts. I think it started to be obvious after a few hours, but 48 hours after the initial reaction she was covered, literally head to toe. It then took up to 6 weeks to get back to normal following a regime of heavy duty steroids and moisturiser.

We now know what she is allergic to and can avoid some of the triggers so her eczema is much better controlled. However, she does gets random flare ups occasionally. When she looks like she is starting a flare up, I now immediately slap on betnovate and it stops the eczema taking hold.

It can be a bit of a minefield working out what's going on. I try to keep a record of eczema flare up / allergic responses and that has helped me identify possible triggers.
