LEAP V60 - anyone else done it yet?

We have it tomorrow - DS already making massive fuss re skin prick tests ...bribery will clearly be necessary. As far as I know hmm he is not in fact allergic to peanuts but I can hardly bear the suspense of seeing if that is one more to be added to the list

we have hoovered the bed grin for the environmental analysis - DS hardly sleeps in his own bed anyway and it is probably full of nits, biscuit crumbs for furtive midnight feasts and small bits of lego grin

PS anyone have any ideas where DS red book might be as I sure as hell cannot find it!

BTW have just discovered they will food challenge whatever the skin prick result is ....

oooh, please do an update after tomorrow. We're about to book in peanut allergic dd2 (scared witless emotion!), so would love to hear about the ins and outs of the day.

Good luck

we have done 3 food challenges so sadly DS is not going to wool pulled his eyes .... DH was a prop forward so they are going to have to use some brute strength to hold DS down for skin pricks ....grin

basically it is fine - just boring - take DVDs and toys ! are you on Leap if you already know DD2 is peanut allergic?

maybe I'm confusing it with the PAST study. We were to be on LEAP but didn't in the end as dd2 was peanut allergic. Now we've been invited back for the PAST study where they get peanut allergic kids to do a peanut challenge to assess how accurate skin prick testing is etc.

We've done other food challenges at the evelina before, but never when a known potentially very serious allergen is given for the first time (gulp!)

hope the skin prick test isn't too traumatic!

ok - done, fine, just the same as other hospital food challenges ....

long day though -9.30-4.30 - watched 3 Frozen Planet DVDs ....

in fact ds has disproved their theory as he has avoided peanuts but is certainly not allergic to them - I would in fact call it the Marie Antoinette challenge as basically he was stuffed with cake!

Great to hear he's not allergic to peanuts babybarrister. I'm wondering when we will have peanut food challenge as DS has always avoided them due to other allergies plus DH is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts but we don't really know if he's allergic or not. RAST result was moderate but never had skin prick test.

That's great news for you though, that he's not allergic to peanuts.

My DS has never been exposed to peanuts, but has a score of >100 on his RAST, so they won't do a challenge. I do worry though that the score is wrong, as he's never had them confused

How old is your ds babybarrister? How do doctors decide when and under what circumstances should one have a food challenge? That's good news that your ds is not allergic to peanuts. What relief!!! Maybe there's hope for my ds because he is avoiding it due to positive skin prick test but never had it so don't know whether he's actually allergic to peanuts

DS 5 - he has had other food challenges to baked egg, soya and celery. This though was a part of the LEAP study so had to be scheduled at this age as they monitor for 5 years ,,,

He is now on LEAP _ON - a further year of avoidance [but not allergic to peanuts] to see if there is any change

ponders how I will now be one of the fantasists claiming her DS has an allergy to peanuts when he definitely does not in order to ensure that he does indeed continue to avoid for the study for the next year....grin

We're half way through LEAP-ON. I just say "My daughter has food allergies, she must avoid dairy, sesame and peanuts." If they probe further I admit that she doesn't actually have a peanut allergy and explain about Leap. So I never exactly lie.
