DS1 has just been confirmed allergic to house dust mites and the hospital gave me a leaflet about Allerguard mattress/pillow/duvet protectors but they are really expensive!!! So I just wondered if anyone had used them and if they are worth the money, or if there are any other alternatives? The leaflet says that products labelled "hypoallergenic" or "anti-allergy" are often not as effective. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Hospital gave you a leaflet? That surprises me, because I would have thought they were not supposed to promote any one product over another. Even if they suggested that you get appropriate bedding, should they really be recommending any one particular brand?

They didn't recommend it as the one and only brand I should use, and they did say that you can buy anti-allergy bedding at John Lewis etc . I just wondered if it was really that good and if there were any alternatives.

Hi I see this post is quite old so you have probably already bought your Allergy bedding ;-) Just wanted to say that I would definitely recommend the AllerGuard covers, they are a little more pricey but totally worth every penny.

I use it for my bed and both of my kids beds too and I cant believe what a difference it has made to our allergies (we all have eczema and rhinitis). We have tried other brands in the past but they didnt work so that was a waste of money. AllerGuard is definitely the best one by far I would say. Good luck x
