Allergies and intolerances

Help - food reaction?

My son has been off cow's milk after developing severe eczema at the age of 7 months. He's mostly breastfed but has the odd bottle of formula (now Wysoy) and has cereal etc made with Wysoy. The idea was to try him on dairy again at a later stage.
In my wisdom, I gave him some cows milk fromage frais at lunchtime just to see how his skin was. Last night he projectile vomited and I was up until 3am with a very fractious, obviously uncomfortable baby who appeared to have tummy cramps. His bowels are completely normal but very sulphurous (if that isn't too much information.)
Are these typical reactions to an intolerance or was ds simply unlucky and suffering a tummy bug?

Being sick and having tummy cramps is an allergy - you do not have to nearly die to be allergic to something.

However - unless dromage frais was the only ingredient he could have reacted to something else. But I wouldn't bother trying to work out what.

Keep him off dairy - do not keep trying to see how he is, every exposure will make him worse. Try probiotics to strengthen his gut after this exposure.

And when you eventually try dairy again, try it cooked - so in something like a cake, or bread with milk powder in it. Heating the milk changes the protein.

i had test results back that said my 14month old wasnt allergice to dairy, this was last week. i got a bit excited and gave him a tiny piece of bread and butter. after about 6 hours he was screaming and inconsolable, presumably with stomach pains for about 24 hours. awful and depressing, poor boy. i did feel guilty, im gona keep him on a non dairy diet wotever the results are.x

coeliac is all sorts of things but definitely wheat gluten. I'm keeping an eye on my son who is wheat and dairy intoleranrt in case he is also coeliac. He has just been diagnosed with diabetes and the two are linked.

as bobbybob's already said vomiting can be an allergy or food intolerance, doesn't have to be rashes/ breathing problems. Keep him off cows milk then try cheese, live yoghurt or goats milk when you want to reintroduce dairy. If you have any gripe water that may help him now as it has lactase in it - the enzyme that digests cows milk.
