Any true crime recommendations?

(8 Posts)

I've recently read a good book a book about the Zodiac serial killer and years ago read a book about the Cannock Chase murders police investigation.

Can anyone recommend anything similar?

I used to read Ann Rule she wrote about U.S true crimes.

Homicide, Life on the Streets by David Simon (book the TV series was based on)

Tough Guy by Louis Ferrante (if insider account of Mafia is your cup of tea).

Thanks, I've ordered Homicide and an Ann Rules book.

I couldn't put down the book Tokyo Hostess...

It was a bit grim (as you'd expect) in places but I couldn't put it down at all. Fascinating stuff.

Definitely Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi - about the Manson murders. He was the prosecuting lawyer & it's completely gripping.

Also 'Patty Hearst: Her Own Story' which is really disturbing & fascinating.

Fatal Vision by Joe McGinnis, about a notorious true-murder case in 1970 in the US where a Green Beret army doctor was convicted of the brutal murder of his family, a crime he's always denied committing. Have read it loads of times, it's a gripping read.
