Michael Pollan: my new love!

Has anyone read Michael Pollan's books? What an inspiring, thought-provoking, interesting writer! I read 'in defence of food' which I loved. The most sane, refreshing, eye-opening discussion on eating in the modern world that I've read.

And now am reading his 'Second nature'. Absolutely lovely (and again, thought provoking) discussion of gardening.

He's also written the 'Omnivore's dilemma'. Anyone read that? Any thoughts about it? (haven't read that one yet).

Interesting that the 'adult non-fiction' section gets far fewer visitors than the 'adult fiction' one. Pity, because there are loads of non-fiction books that we could discuss. Anyway thought I'd bump this up in case anyone discovers Michael Pollan because of this thread, he's a treasure & would love to recommend him to people.

The Omnivores Dilemma and In Defence of Food are both on my Amazon wishlist. Too many books, not enough cash or time! (Local library didn't have them.) Will definitely get and read one next year though - of the ones you've read, which do you recommend starting with?

Depends on your interests. Since you've got these 2 on your wishlist probably you won't want to read 'Second nature' first; its a great book but it's about gardening. I haven't read 'omnivore's dilemma' but 'in defence of food' is brilliant. And just very very sane on the issue of food, especially when there's so much crappy writing on fad diets etc around.
