This book by Michael Pollan is absolutely brilliant - I am going to make it my new way of eating. Anyone else read it and what did you think?

Haven't read but have ordered a copy, tell me how it has changed the way you eat?

aviatrix Tue 28-Dec-10 23:01:33

Well I have only just read it, and to be honest it confirms a fair bit that I knew, but it has given me the kick up the backside to put it into practice.

I am rather hoping that as a side effect I will lose a bit of weight too.

Interesting. Can you summarise the message?

aviatrix Wed 29-Dec-10 09:17:38

The author summarises it as: "Eat Food, not too much, mostly plants"

The 'eat food' bit is important, as he goes on to explain that many things sold as food in supermarkets are not actually food.

In other words, eat only things that your great grandmother would have recognised.

Also on the same theme to avoid certain foods that disrupt or send wrong messages to your body. These are things like refined sugars and trans fats.

Sounds interesting, looking forward to getting my copy eventually!

And you need to buy a whole new book to tell you that?

don't eat too much
more vegetables, less meat
less processed food

I think he saw you coming.
