I remember reading this as a child in school (Year 9 I think) and finding it really boring. I'm re-reading it now as I really really want to buy one of these for my Kindle.

I am loving it. I really remember so little of it, it's like a brand new book for me, and right up my street!

Anyone else know and love it? Or rediscovered something like this? I just can't believe I disregarded it for so long tbh - I did American Studies at university, and lots of American literature. I wish we'd revisited it then, it feels like a real treat reading it now.

It is my all time favourite book.

I'm so glad you've picked it up to re-read it and you're enjoying it. My original copy us falling to bits but its the one I first read in school and its got all my notes down the margins so I can't part with it!

I loved the book so much I named my first born after the main character!

Also, I wasn't expecting to find it so funny! Scout is just hilarious!

I remember welling up when Scout finally meets Boo Radley.

I'm teaching it right now. Year 9 weren't overwhelmed by it to begin with but seem to be getting it now Love that cover. Bit ironic that you can't actually buy it on the kindle though (can you? I can't find it!)

I read this in Year 9 and absolutely loved it even then, but I was always the swotty kid. Am certainly going to encourage the DDs to read it (DD1 in Yr 7 now, so not yet!), I think it is a graet book.

Adored it as a teen, still love it now, one of the best. Must get DS to read it.

Ooh it's our book club book this month, I've never read it. Sounds like I'm in for a real treat.

I read it for the first time a couple of years ago, I was on holiday in Mexico and I had ran out if reading material. The shop at the hotel was full of Danielle steel type books, really not my thing and a copy of 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. So I bought it and was gripped, such an amazing book.

It always comes top of the lists of books that changed your life.

But I love it too. It is so beautifully written, the sub themes are brilliant too. I love the child coming to a meal who pours corn syrup over everything and how that is used in the Lynch mob scene, how the awful aunt is so courageous, the description of intercourse or rape or adultery. And the atmosphere.

The best book I've ever read, funny, poignant, serious.

I read it at school, and have always absolutely loved it. I have read it many many times. I also read Of Mice and Men because the opposite class read that instead and I didn't want to miss out!!

I have never read this so just ordred a copy off greenmetropolis. Looking forward to it

I love reading but books tend not to "stay" with me. This one absolutely is part of me. I love it.

Have you seen the film, OP? It is the only time ever (I think) that a film has been every bit as good as the book it's based on. Gregory Peck as Atticus is absolutely perfect.

Ordinarily, I'm not such a heathen to recommend a film on a book thread , but this is the one and only exception, I reckon

I had never read it but my DD1 is doing it for her GCSE so thought I would so she had someone to talk to about it.

I enjoyed it but feel I need to read it again just for pleasure as I feel I would get so much more out of it. Got confused with all the people though!

I'm pleased to hear the film is good. I was wondering about seeing it but was worried it would spoil the book which I really enjoyed.

Niggle It'll enhance your enjoyment, I promise. Truly the perfect adaptation of a perfect book. And I defy you not to fall in love with Gregory Peck/Atticus Finch

It's one of my all time favourites; it's a classic.

I like those Kindle covers, and thought I'd get one for my brother, only to see that they seem to have confused Astronomy with astrology. Very disappointing. Why? Why? Why? <Jux spontaneously combusts as a result of general ignorance in the book world>

Oh yes, the film is excellent. Brilliantly cast and true to Harper Lee.
