I need a good plot otherwise I will fall asleep as soon as I sit down to read. Not necessarily crime genre...

All the Wallander Mankell books, the whole series by Jo Nesbø (also crime), Fingersmith by Sarah Waters, The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara someone, We Were The Mulvaneys by Joyce Carol Oates, American Gods by Neil Gaiman...

The Garnethill trilogy by Denise Mina is good, great main character. Set in Glasgow,(crime, but a bit different)

I wouldn't know where to start, but if you like Stiegg Larson, have you tried Robert Goddard. He does write like an older man than SL was, but still, the style is similar. Good characterisation. Complicated but not chaotic plots. Plausible resolutions. You actually enjoy reading the book, not just skim reading to the end to find out whodunnit.

There is a book called 'The Exception' by Christian Jungersen. here.

He is a Danish writer, and it is about 4 women who work for an Amnesty International type organisation. It starts off as a (quite compelling) tale of office bitchiness, but it escalates into a thriller.
