Never ask a child IF they need the loo... moodlum

Quote of the week

CaptainNancy's (admirably succinct) family rules: "Don't be a dingbat/duffer. Keep calm and carry on. Dream big. Shut up and get on with it."

Recipe of the week

Carmenere's cinder toffee: sweet, sticky, made-in-five-minutes toffee squares that'll spark off a few 'yums' among the 'oohs' and 'aahs' of your little fireworks-watchers.

Didn't realise there were Star Wars books! I LOVE the films, remember going to see 'The Empire Strikes Back' with my Dad and bro. The 1st three are still some of my all time fav films.
Are the books the same as the films or are they set before?
I love the prequels, though I know that isn't a popular view.
Perhaps because they were the first Star Wars films that I was able to see in the cinema as soon as they were released.

I went to see each prequel three times.blush

Of course the original trilogy are great too. I love Vader.

LOL
did you see Samuel L Jacksons interview. He was so desperate to be in SW he wrote to Lucas and said he'd be a stormtrooper even if no-one saw his face grin

I much prefer the "proper" Star Wars films to the prequel. Celia Imrie used to say that that was the first time her children were proud of her as an actress, when they saw her piloting a starfighter. grin
Aaron Allston is funny. The Vong books just seemed to drag on and on and on and really weren't the enemy the Empire was.

They must have a big database so they can use each others characters.
I watched the 1 - 3 films again the other day and still dont see how Obi-wan didn't remeber R2D2. tsk. (and wanted to shout Georgem step away from the script' because its so painful grin)

I was less bothered by the Yuuzhan vong ones - they seemed to have lost the light touch that I particularly liked in the Aaron Allston books.
Do you think that there is a huge computer program cross referencing all the characters and what has happened to them so far? How else could all those different writers keep on top of who has done what?
me too. But you didn't hear that from me grin
I'm guessing there are going to be more books about what hapens now Jacen is dead that lead up to the next Sith war.
I have an entire bookcase for my SW books. No-one else here reads them.
Am reading Rogue Planet at the moment.

I like the Rogue Squadron ones! I'd love to know what happened in the end to Kirney Slane and Myn Donos.
(Never thought I'd admit to that! blush
Jaina was a very weak character.
Oooooooooooo replies. I've read all of them being such a geek and all grin
I'm just reading the ones set before SW 4 (new Hope) which sets the scene of the republic and Palpatine taking over. And I love the Coriscant Nights ones.
Can we have geeky talks now?
REading Outbound Flight where you first meet Thrawn there's a hint that Palpatine new the Vong were coming and were a threat and this is why he united the galaxy in an Empire. So Luke and Co buggered up that plan.
My 12yo reads them. He loves them.
The Bounty hunters collections are great.

I prefer the older books, and the books set around the prequels to the ones with the Yuuzhan vong, particuarly as they {spoiler warning}

Killed off Anakin, then Jacen, leaving only Jaina who I've never really been a big fan of.

DP has a load of Star wars novels, not all of them, but a fair chunk.

I like the bounty hunter collections.

We are a Star Wars family smile
Are any of them suitable for Junior age kids? I browsed one in adult section in library for DS9, but I didn't want to have to read it myself to find out if it'd be ok for him.
I read them. I love them. I'm way behind with my collection though, but I'm a major Star Wars geek.
Or am I the only geek who has all 40 or so blush

If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
