I can never decide! And yes, I have posted this in Adult Fiction... I only started fully enjoying the jokes and word play when I was in my teens.

Tintin.

DH is an Asterix fan.

I think this means we are completely incompatable.

mrspink27 Wed 23-Oct-13 10:54:04

Tin Tin all the way...

eggyweggies Wed 23-Oct-13 10:55:23

Asterix. He's brilliant.

I waste far too much time thinking about this! I love both, I can't decide. As a character, I prefer Asterix, he's more anarchic and wittier, but I prefer the Tintin books overall - Tintin himself is bland, but the supporting cast are utter genius and the plots are far tighter.

Don't get Tin Tin at all.

Asterix is king!

Beeyump Wed 23-Oct-13 11:16:16

Oo, I like the division! Asterix is funnier I think, the names are just the best. (Is the chief called Getafix? I can't remember right now.) Though there have been laugh out loud moments in Tintin for me too. Captain Haddock trying to catch balls of floating whisky in the 'moon rocket' springs to mind.

Beeyump Wed 23-Oct-13 11:17:25

Also, I have Captain Haddock and Tintin key rings. Not sure if that adds to the discussion...

ZZZenagain Wed 23-Oct-13 11:18:39

Asterix but only the ones where the two authors worked together. After that I thought the texts didn't work anymore.

Asterix all the way, can't stand Tin-tin.

ZZZenagain Wed 23-Oct-13 11:20:11

but you do like Snowy

DustyOwl Wed 23-Oct-13 11:21:01

Has to be asterix all the way. Loved it then and love it now smile

LeMousquetaireAnonyme Wed 23-Oct-13 11:21:06

Asterix never liked Tintin
(at least they are some kickass women in Asterix)

ISingSoprano Wed 23-Oct-13 11:21:53

Asterix - no competition, although ds would argue otherwise.

ZZZenagain Wed 23-Oct-13 11:23:06

I do like some of the characters in Tin Tin : Thomson and Thompson, Madame Castafiore, Captain Haddock, Professor Calculus but I don't know about the actual stories so much.

Julius Caeser is so good in Asterix

Chubfuddler Wed 23-Oct-13 11:23:25

Asterix and THANK YOU for reminding me of its existence so I can buy them for DS.

ZZZenagain Wed 23-Oct-13 11:25:41

apart from Caesar , I like the Celtic chief and his wife (who is always hankering after Paris) but I can't remember their names now.

Beeyump Wed 23-Oct-13 11:42:29

Aw, come on more needed in the Tintin camp.

Anyone remember the opera singer, Bianca Castafiore, who fancies Captain Haddock?

Asterix, always.
Tintin is a bit weird IMO

docket Wed 23-Oct-13 12:17:26

Tintin! Love the book covers and the stories. Tintin himself is a bit annoying but the other characters (haddock, castafiore, calculus etc) are sublime

Beeyump Wed 23-Oct-13 12:20:03

Yes, Professor Calculus! I'd quite like a key ring of him as well.

Kasterborous Wed 23-Oct-13 15:49:48

TinTin, I never got on with the Asterix books.

ISingSoprano Wed 23-Oct-13 15:52:45

For TinTin fans, if you're ever in the Loire Valley I recommend a trip here

Amandine29 Wed 23-Oct-13 15:56:46

Ooh I like both! One of my friends loves Tintin and it was him who got me into it but Asterix is funnier so that's my favourite.

HavantGuard Wed 23-Oct-13 15:56:48

Asterix. I loathe Tin Tin.
