I bet you're reading it now.

i agree, gripping and compulsive, though the court scenes were a bit drawn-out. And I did find myself puzzling over the scene in the crypt! Is it really possible to pull your knickers and tights down on one side only??

LadyMilfordHaven Tue 23-Jul-13 20:43:36

pervert ;)
I thought it was ace - I liked the court thing and the fact that her utter honesty was based on her sexual history - not a thing a man would have to do

Finally bought this as kindle price v good atm - £1.39...

Ooh

Dp is reading it now. He says it needs some serious editing / proof-reading. Doubt I'll bother - I found Gone Girl unreadable.

I need books though!

LadyMilfordHaven Wed 24-Jul-13 22:41:44

Oh I'm sure he knows best. Being a man and all ;)

LadyMilfordHaven Wed 24-Jul-13 22:42:42

When you get to the end you realise a lot is relevant. Plus I think it resonates with women

Oh he knows nowt - he likes Ian McEwan. smile

Just finished it on your recommendation - couldn't put it down - he was a shit though.

Never tried Louise Doughty before - any other recommendations of hers?

I'm reading Human Remains by Elizabeth Haynes at the mo but need something lined up for when I finish. smile

Two books with really good twists and clever plotting - Until You're Mine by Samantha Heyes, and The Burning Air by Erin Kelly.

For £1.39, I'm going to download for a future read. Thanks for the rec.

I am reading it at the moment and am loving it.

Dp finished it yesterday. He reckons that the 2nd half was better than the first, and that it was better than 'Gone Girl' but that a lot of it wasn't terribly credible.

magimedi Wed 31-Jul-13 17:30:59

I've just finished it & was a bit underwhelmed. It could have done with being at least a third shorter & I didn't find Yvonne very credible.

Won't say more as don't want to spoil.

LadyMilfordHaven Sat 03-Aug-13 11:48:17

i thought the ending was a tad drawn out, yes

louloutheshamed Mon 05-Aug-13 12:44:14

I just finished this and loved it. Thought it was very cleverly structured. Haven't read Gone Girl so can't compare but it did remind me of Alice Sebold's Lucky in the way the trial was covered in so much detail. I found it fascinating how everything was 'upside
Down' (without wanting to give too much away!)

Am now about to start Denise Mina's The red road....

BaconAndAvocado Mon 05-Aug-13 21:05:15

Love the look of this book but am loathe to pay £8 for it!

Off to the library!

Right have just finished this and don't understand why everyone says it is an upside down book, ca anyone enlighten me?
Thanks
