I like crime and thriller genres. i have read all jane casey's books and loved them. i love lynwood barclay too. is jo nesbo much much more gruesome than jane casey. ?

Ps ive read gilian flynns other two books and i liked them but not quite as much. dark places took longer to get in to and sharp objects , well i guess the end but it was still a good read.

Into the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes is a great thriller. I really enjoy JO Nesbos books, havent read Jane Casey, so cant compare Im afraid, but I wouldnt say they are particularly gruesome. Camilla Lackberg is another good scandi crime writer.

Yes to Sophie Hannah and camila lackberg. Tideline by Penny Hancock was amazing as was After the Fall by Charity Norman. Gone Girl is my favourite ever thriller!

Dare Me by Megan Abbot.
Turn of Mind by Alice Plante is good.
Before I go to Sleep is v good for 80% of the book, but ending kind of ruins it.
Blacklands by Belinder Bauer.

I'd second TheLightPassenger's recommendation of Blacklands by Belinda Bauer. There are three connected novels - Blacklands is the first, followed by Dark Side and then Finders Keepers - all set on Exmoor in a grimly bleak village called Shipcott. Very atmospheric. You need to read them in the right order though.

She's got another novel out now, but I can't remember the name of it and don't know if that follows the series or is a stand-alone novel. I'll have a look on Amazon later - it will definitely be on my tbr list this year.

Killing me Softly and Secret Smile by Nicci French.
Black is the Colour by Helen Howe.
Most of Barbara Vine's books, particularly A Fatal Inversion and No Night is Too Long.

All good, pacy psychological mystery/thriller type of stories.

Jane Hill's Can't Let Go is very good.

And anything by S J Bolton. Sacrifice, Awakening, Blood Harvest, Now You See Me and Dead Scared. The last two both have DC Lacey Flint as the lead character and each has someone from the first three books pop up, so it helps to read them in order.

They are all very good and I am waiting very impatiently for her next book.

Nicci French is also very good, Sophie Hannah can get a bit absurd in her plots for my liking, but I did like Little Face and Kind of Cruel.

I've just finished Dissappear by Iain Edward Henn on my Kindle and that was very good, about a woman whose husband vanishes and then turns up dead 18 years later, dressed exactly as he was when he left all those years ago and looking like he hasn't aged a single day.

And I second the recommendation for How To Be A Good Wife. I've just started a thread asking if anyone else had read it yet, because I loved it.
