Have just read The End Of The Affair, it was my first Graham Greene. I love how he writes. I'm no literary expert but am finding i love some writers and cant be doing with thrashy stuff.
So which GG would you recommend i read next?
My favourites are Our Man in Havanna & ...The Power & the Glory, for completely different reasons. The former was oddball & funny, the latter deep & really made me think about faith. Obviously a Marmite book. Libraries usually have a shelf full of GG's, that's how I first got into them!

Wasnt getting a vibe from Brighton Rock....
Anyway, England Made Me came in the post today! (i tried my local bookshop, didnt have it in stock or their wholesaler, tried 2 second hand shops in town to no avail, the second one suggested abebooks.com which is an independent site, got it there)

Have to disagree with previous posters. I absolutely loved The Power and The Glory - one of my favourite books ever. Brighton Rock is good too.
I fekt exactly the same abnout the End of the Affair - devoured it in a few days.

Studied The Power and The Glory for O level. Absolutely awful book. Loved Brighton Rock.

eatyourveg but that changes the whole thing if Sarah isnt dead. Dont know about changes like that in a film version.

I've loved The End of the Affair and Our Man in Havana, and would also recommend Stamboul Train, but find others of his books more difficult.

The End of the Affair is my all time favourite book! Although the ending in the film is changed, it is still worth watching - some of the script is straight from the text

End of the Affair here too. It's just so beautifully written. Bits of it I just keep re-reading. Without wanting to sound horribly sexist I think it's a gift that he could write so well from a woman's perspective. Amazing book.

When I was a wee whippet snapper I read a book called 'Just Ferret' (Gene Kemp- also wrote The Turbulent Term of Tyke Tyler) and in it she had a character who loved Graham Greene and England Made Me and named her daughter after one of the characters- imagine my excitement as an adult to read the novel and be jolted back to my snotty nosed childhood when I recognised the character's name!!

England Made Me is one of my favourites! If you liked the end of the affair you'll love England Made Me.
