It really is never too early for gin or After Eight vodka if Penguin is to be believed.

Oh believe me! My stash of Christmas spirit is impressive this year to my mother's great concern

Personally the HB pudding vodka is my fave. Recipe on the BBC website. Doesn't taste like pudding, just oranges & spices & festive cheer grin

Anand that's the thread off to a suitably high brow start.

Oops. just posted on the old thread.

AI'll just relink my latest hols fic rec: Collect Your Courage - very good 44k fic, including a great Lavender (it was also good enough for me to overlook the totally wince-worthy single use of the hideous word 'fucktard').

Ah, yes, and last night I read bikini ping pong 3 and it was very very good.

Good morning, and a Happy New Thread.

Our 'new' (second hand) sofa arrived, which is very exciting and lovely. But, the shop told us the delivery men would take away our (old, broken) one. Not so. So now we have a new sofa, and an old, broken sofa, both sitting in the living room. And no car. Hmm.

OmiQueenofMisteltypose Sat 22-Dec-12 10:54:43

Does your council take away over-sized waste? Ours took our old sofa.

Signing in.

Council good idea, birds, v annoying though.

I really want some Christmas pud vodka but we are all out of vodka.<fshock>

Bikini png pong three? I've clearly missed this - I haven't seen bikini ping pong two yet! Link/titles, anyone?

OmiQueenofMisteltypose Sat 22-Dec-12 13:22:24

I'll tweet you it, Evil.

evilgiraffe Sat 22-Dec-12 16:00:24

Thanks for the link, Omi smile

In other news, remember that Sherlock/Star Trek crossover I was talking about the other day? Well, chapter two is up!

After Eight vodka advice please!
Is 1 pack of AE and 500ml vodka a stipulation or more like guidelines?
And when you put it in the dishwasher, is that empty and without dishwash tablet/powder isn't it?

Guidelines! Add to taste. That's about what I used (maybe 7 chocs left in pack). I did dishwasher on empty, no powder. I imagine the choc would dissolve in the vodka anyway over time even without heat, but not with 2 days to go!

It is luscious, btw.

TeamSledward Sat 22-Dec-12 20:49:22

Ah, sorry Penguin, I didn't see your post and started a new thread about it!

fourcallingbirdsofshore Sat 22-Dec-12 21:24:04

Oh thank you, we never thought of the council! Great plan.

We have both finished work and have 4 days to ourselves before any visitors come. We don"t do big elaborate Christmas stuff so we can be quite chilled out. I am feeling very happy about this. I feel like stretching out on the 4 days and rolling around all over them. :D

RARRRR New thread!

TeamSledward Sun 23-Dec-12 08:02:01

Yay! Selkie Man is finished. Made me want to go back to Shetland.

For all your convenience, I am reading all the Hols fics. Yesterday a 70k fic posted, and as I woke up early this morning, I thought I'd read it for you all. Oh my goodness, it was fantastic. There were dreams, and magic, and wandlore and wards and it was a great adventure ride. It's eighth year, but told in a new way. Well worth the read. Manticoria.

tillytinselpants Sun 23-Dec-12 14:30:50

I'm now at my parents, both the Dses & me are being thoroughly spoilt!

Omi, your brother sounds lovely, glad you had a nice time seeing him. And thank you for your HD Hols reading, it must be a great hardship having to read them all on our behalf grin

Birds, your Christmas sounds fab

Omi, I might read that in bed tonight. Though saying that, I am still reading Turn shock I put it on my Kindle when I got it, which was last Christmas, I think. Is that possible?

fourcallingbirdsofshore Sun 23-Dec-12 21:00:45

You all need to read this: Coffee, Cakes and Doorknob Snakes. 40k of H/D fabulousness

We are doing presents tomorrow instead of on Christmas Day. It's making me feel very bohemian grin

OmiQueenofMisteltypose Sun 23-Dec-12 21:21:58

Ah, birds got here first.

Pfft, if you are still reading Turn, that just means it's taking you as long as it took us, as there were usually 1-2 months between chapter updates.

Today has been a quiet day, so nice to have one evening at home. I was stuck in with ds all of last week and I still have a few presents to get, I am hoping that I will feel a little less like death warmed up tomorrow, and manage to get out, survive the crowds, and do a bit of last minute shopping. I don't think that I've ever been shopping on Christmas Eve before, it should be fun. hmm

OmiQueenofMisteltypose Sun 23-Dec-12 21:23:01

Or continental, birds: most of the rest of Europe open their presents on Christmas Eve.

TeWisBeenNargledByTheMistletoe Sun 23-Dec-12 21:45:03

DSs birthday tomorrow. Hordes are arriving so will be lurking only -

Have a lovely stressfree fic heavy Christmas everyone.grin

tillytinselpants Sun 23-Dec-12 22:10:33

You too Tewi smile

Catching up on Hols, just read the Peacock Paladin fic, that was amazing

OmiQueenofMisteltypose Sun 23-Dec-12 22:27:47

Every fic in the past week has been fantastic. I feel like I did when I read fics from rec lists, at least one a day: I have just gorged myself on excellent HD fics. So mich goodness. And still a week to go!

OmiQueenofMisteltypose Sun 23-Dec-12 22:28:53

TeWi, ds's arrival was the most exciting thing to happen last Christmas. smile
