Does anyone know of any novels set in the North East of England?I'm trying to put some together for my parents, any recomendations would be gratefully received.
Something other than Catherine Cookson then?
I've recommended this before to someone, despite not finishing it myself, but I think Wire in the Blood is set in Northumberland, if that's of any use?
Hi - we can recommend loads set in the North East of UK. Your best starting point is Mari Hannah, new author, 2 books out: Settled Blood is her latest, set along Hadrian's Wall, Durham and Pennines. Crime. The first was the Murder Wall, Corbridge and Newcastle (I have just done a blogpost on her latest novel)Flying with Kites is part set Newcastle by Alan ReynoldsThe Other Family, Joanna Trollope part set NEThe Quality of Mercy Barry UnsworthThe First Time I saw you Hazel OsmondWedlock by Wendy MooreWife in the North, Judith O'Reilly....Anyway loads more, depends on their reading taste. Have fun choosing.
Thanks, great ideas there. I will look them up.
Book by Paul Magrs - set in Whitby or the Darlington area.David Almond's books are all set in the north Tyneside area but they tend to be YA books (although perfectly readable by adults of course).
