Well, if this random thread title doesn't draw in the lurkers nothing will!

I am off work ill. No voice, and congested sinuses. I will now shuffle off to bed to spend the least of my morning snoring with Ryan Gosling on DVD.

<makes slef comfy in new home>

<kicks Ryan Gosling off sofa>

<pats sofa invitingly for Alex Pettyfer, the man for whom the words 'Hubba hubba' were apparently invented. He's been touted for Christian Grey,incidentally...

TeamEdward Tue 16-Oct-12 10:31:34

<gives Ryan Gosling her seat on the sofa so slef can perch on his lap>
"Ryan, is that a Mars bar in your pocket? I seem to be sitting on it..."

evilgiraffe Tue 16-Oct-12 10:52:50

I still don't get the attraction of Ryan Gosling. You guys can keep him, so long as I get Chris Pine.

NeonFlapjacks Tue 16-Oct-12 11:19:06

Who hasn't been touted for Christian Gray?

<budges in between Alex & Chris> Purely to absorb body heat before venturing outside you understand.

Haha @ title! Good afternoon all. Sorry for lurgies. We are knackered but basically healthy, just sniffles. Ds3 is eating food. It is quite entertaining.

noseyparker4ahusband Tue 16-Oct-12 13:35:52

Afternoon all <passes Team a hot lemsip> could I join you on the sofa. Not ill just feeling sorry for myself. (Dad to take into hospital tommorow for investigations, mum who i am sure is going senile (she seems to 'zone' out and is getting our names confused now sad ) God sometimes I hate being an only child. I am now getting concerned as it is our holiday coming up very soon and I keep thinking that sure as eggs is eggs something is bound to happen when we are away. Oh god, sorry to dump my downer on you all. At least I made it out for a mooch round the shops yesterday with a friend and got a bargin pair of next 3/4 length cotton trousers for my upcoming holiday for the bargin price of £4 (they looked unworn smile)

OmiQueenofTypose Tue 16-Oct-12 14:29:42

Which one of you gave me the lurgy? I am sitting at home a little achy and snotty, with a cup of tea and Evil's notes, finishing off a fic. And teeheeing at her comments, as ever. smile

OmiQueenofTypose Tue 16-Oct-12 14:30:33

Also, nosey I hope all is ok with your parents, that does sound stressful.

TeWiDoesTheHulaInHawaii Tue 16-Oct-12 15:00:31

Oh no, nosey. I hope everything is okay.

The cat has just scratched DS in the face. It's my fault, I'm so bloody tired I wasn't paying enough attention to keeping them apart. Feel shit though.

grin @ thread title

Nosey it is really hard but even if you weren't an only child there is only so much you can do and there is a lot of organisations that can help. Unless you are an expert and even if you were it is hard to deal with. Mother has MH issues and I am regularly temporary carer whilst she gets herself back together after a slip she refuses medical help which I find incredibly selfish on a bad day Can you set up something to be in place incase of things going wrong whilst you are away? Speak to her doctor to voice your concerns or something? I know they probably wont be able to tell you anything about her situation but voicing your concerns would mean they have the full picture should anything occur. Just make sure that you have an outlet for the associated emotions. <probably unhelpful sorry>

<runs away from the lurgy and not because she has just realised she is yet again late for school run>hmmblush

evilgiraffe Tue 16-Oct-12 15:48:15

Every time you say that, Omi, I wonder what comedy thing I wrote... grin

Hugs for Nosey - hope all is well with your family sad

I have taken possession of my very first mooncup. So far there has been a lot of rummaging and I'm not sure if I've done it right but am trying to ignore it in the hope that if I stop thinking about it it'll be fine. We shall see...

Evil, proving that there is such a thing as TMI grin

Don't worry evil, you don't need to see the appeal of Ryan. As you probably can't see much of him anyway, from where he is situated (right underneath me) grin

OmiQueenofTypose Tue 16-Oct-12 17:02:37

I used quite a crude/sill phrase, which you let me keep, given the context... I knew you would say that, lol.

I heart my mooncup. Periods are less fussy, messy, smelly and painful since I've started using one. Cheaper too. grin

evilgiraffe Tue 16-Oct-12 17:03:10

Sorry, Penguin grin

evilgiraffe Tue 16-Oct-12 17:04:10

Oh! I know which sentence it was grin

OmiQueenofTypose Tue 16-Oct-12 17:32:31

When I sent that bit to birds, I apologised for it first...

noseyparker4ahusband Tue 16-Oct-12 18:14:59

Evil I am sniggering at the mental image of you 'rummaging' with your mooncup grin

OnTheNeverNever Tue 16-Oct-12 18:16:50

I have no mental image of that at all, Evil hmm

evilgiraffe Tue 16-Oct-12 18:24:38

Sorry, sorry, clearly between here and the TTC threads and real life, I have next to no TMI filter at all (on any subject) any more...

birdsofshoreandsea Tue 16-Oct-12 18:28:17

TeWi, I hope ds is ok? I bet you were more upset than him.

Evil you probably know this, but once you have successfully rummaged once or twice and are no longer alarmed that it will vanish into your lungs or something, cut the stalky bit right off!

Pfft, Ryan does look pretty good down there grin

Omi, quite right, you should apologise before sending me filth. I might have the vapours.

OmiQueenofTypose Tue 16-Oct-12 18:51:08

NO SHAME. Just reminding you: I really don't think there is such thing as TMI on these threads. Or MN as a whole, tbh....

OmiQueenofTypose Tue 16-Oct-12 18:53:46

Tilly, please type out your DS's letter on the thread... it is so good. grin

noseyparker4ahusband Tue 16-Oct-12 18:56:45

I know I am probs the only one on here with older dc's but I did think that one of the advantages of them going to Secondary school was that you no longer had to spend hours 'helping' your dc's with their school reading, costumes and general creative stuff as most of the stuff they do nowadays is done online etc. Well tonight I have had to help dd2 who is creating a papier mache model of the grand canyon(she is now at the painting stage), test her on something for English and dd1 has just come down to ask for embroidary (can't spell blush) thread so she can do her textiles homework, it seems the magic box of never ending craft supplies is still needed in this house so any hope of whittling it down has gone out of the window sad.
