The Wicked Girls by Alex Marwood

2 girls imprisoned for murder when they were young....25 years later they meet again.

Very good...read it in 2 days.

Thanks so much, love recommendations.
You're not Alex Marwood.

bamboostalks Sat 11-Aug-12 20:42:25

are you? grin

I read that as well recently. Would definitely recommend it.

Currently being transported to my kindle as we speak!

Many thanks OP smile

I really must pay more attention to this area. I've just finished "Rivers of London" which was recommended here, and I've now downloaded this book.

I do like the occasional whodunnit - I'm slowly working my way through the Kinsey Millhone series - but I also like the kind of psychological thriller that looks at the minds of such aberrant behaviour. When reading the synopsis on Amazon I was reminded of a real life case that happened decades ago in Australia, where no-one could really explain the psychology of those two young girls.

Ordered smile. Thanks.

No I am not the author smile
she is working on her next novel.

Just started another good one..gone Girl by Gilliam Flynn.
That's me sorted for the next few days!!

Ordered too. Love a good book recommendation grin

I hope you all enjoy it grin

i still love your name Mimsy.
Dad and I used to recite Jabberwocky together when I was little.

MarthasHarbour Mon 13-Aug-12 09:03:27

Just started reading this book this morning and am already hooked!

bamboostalks Mon 13-Aug-12 19:36:35

Me too, thanks. Stuck to my kindle since yesterday. Girl will be next.

Thanks again for this MrsR (I'm enjoying teaching ds1 jabberwocky). Just finished it and thought it was very, very well written - thoroughly enjoyed it.

I was expecting it to be a bit more like 'Boy A' but I actually found it more thought provoking and definitely more of a page turner.

Now, what to read next? <eyes rather brimming kindle> grin

Just reread the thread and remembered I've got Gone Girl to put on. There's my answer...

I posted about the wicked girls a while ago, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and the twists had me fooled every step of the way through it too. Every time I thought I knew what was coming next I was wrong.

MarthasHarbour Wed 22-Aug-12 14:06:09

Just finished this, i enjoyed it - but confess to guessing the twists before they occurred - such as a certain person knowing all along who a certain person was wink

Have just started reading The Missing now - another one that has me gripped straight away

Thank you OP!

Am LOVING all these psychological thrillers at the mo!!

Recently read Erin Kelly's The Sick Rose and Into the Darkest Corner (can't remember who penned that one!)

Currently reading Before I go to Sleep... starting off a bit slow, hope it improves soon.

I've got Cuckoo by Julia Crouch to read next.

Lolalollipop Thu 23-Aug-12 19:05:56

Marking my place so I can find thread when have my bank card handy. Thanks!

bamboostalks Thu 23-Aug-12 20:26:06

Just finished The Wicked Girls. Was pretty good.

LastMangoInParis Thu 23-Aug-12 20:30:41

Yeah, it's good: follows crime fiction formula, but still really well written, bits of it are really funny.
Wish I knew who Alex Marwood is, though. (I have my theory re. a particular very clever, funny journalist, but if it's her she's just too clever, too prolific in producing, funny, clever, snappy work and the thought of someone getting that much done is exhausting...)
So who is Alex Marwood?
