Voila!

Happy VD to all! wink

<checking in>

Here I am..,

OmicronPersei8 Tue 14-Feb-12 22:18:31

I is here. wine has made everything better....

I'm here. Bit of an odd night, have been teaching, now home with a wine but we're heading off to France at 3am so don't really want to go to bed.

Might hit the googleporn button for something for you all to wake up to grin

I guess Tilly just went to France. envy

I want to live in the home for the nymphomaniacally bewildered!

It sounds fun.

A while ago, my mother said that she was considering opening up a home for disillusioned women. She said that there was no point though, as she couldn't possibly find a residence big enough.

Tilly envy I wish I was off to France. Or anywhere. Grrr. Have fun though!

Am just starting to get back into fic. It's been a long time since I've read anything (other than slowly working my way through Turn - I'm trying not to rush it and turn into a zombie, waiting for that epilogue. I'm enjoying it, immensely). Next on the list is to catch up with all the TSA work, I can't believe Omi has published stuff, yay! I think my writing days are over.

TeWihara Wed 15-Feb-12 09:00:22

I've still got a massive pile of fics to read and am not very secretly holding out for a kindle.

Morning, reporting for duty on the new thread.

Can I just say that paracetamol suppositories are FTW grin. Not a phrase I would ever have thought I'd say. We have finally been able to give up the fight to the death with the calpol spoon and the Chick is on the mend smile.

NeonFlapjacks Wed 15-Feb-12 09:15:17

Wow. 70 threads old and still going strong. I reckon that's quite an achievement.

Happy 70th everyone - we'll be needing that Home soon!

OmicronPersei8 Wed 15-Feb-12 09:34:24

So glad they've worked out for you Penguin. Oh the things we end up recommending to each other. grin

Pfft, my fics are all shortish, so an easy dip.

One hour to go until I'm child-free....

Happy 70th nymphos!

A lovely piece of writing here, about the experience and joy of being a part of the fandom. Stephenie Meyer (because it's Twilight that AnnaLund is writing about) has a lot to answer for, bless her heart!

Are we the longest running thread on MN ? and can anyone remember / find the 1st TSA thread (it may be fun to take a look back)hmm
Well after a lovely evening with Grandadperv all went to pot this am when he woke me up at silly o'clock as he had to go to work early. I did try to ignore him / go back to sleep but his insistance on having every light on in the bedroom so he can see to get dressed rather ruined any further attempts to sleep on my part. He then got into a strop when he put on the radio only to find that all his preset stations had disappeared which was my fault obviously shock. So I very pointedly made MYSELF a cup of tea and stomped back up to bed and waited till I heard him leave before I came down to lurk on here in peace. Now DD2 has woken up and remembered that I said we would make bread today and watch films (why do I have these ideas confused) although she is ensconsed in kids tv so I may be able to lurk a bit longergrin Right rant over I feel much better thank you smile

Good luck at the bank.

evilgiraffe Wed 15-Feb-12 11:22:34

Reporting for duty smile

My talk this morning went okay <phew> Am now feeling drained, tired, and completely unmotivated to get anything done before lunchtime, though!

This evening, I'm off to see The Woman In Black - I'll report back!

BitchyKicksAss Wed 15-Feb-12 11:23:33

Western you going to stop being silly and come back as you?

Shiney thread is still about I think they were establish at the point of formation of the TSA. And the fledglings are in their third year. And the teashop threads have been about since before i joined mn. so there are a couple of long running threads about. But they are few and far between. It is quite an achievement.

Have a nice child free time Omi.

I have no ds until the weekend. yesterday i literally did nothing but sleep. I feel like death. hmm planning sleep and fic for today. although need to drag my sorry ass out of bed for some training later.

Hope Tilly has a lovely time envy

Someone on another thread ranting about Twilight mentioned this, which is proving to be an entertaining if been-there-done-that critique of why the books suck.

Would it be wrong to mention the porn fanfiction on that thread?

OmicronPersei8 Wed 15-Feb-12 13:27:31

Found the thread. Soupy did a fine defence, but I can't say that I exactly disagree with the sentiments on the thread. Confusingly, I also like getting swept along by romance and find RP to be very pretty indeed. confused

Cleolinda perhaps? I have the feeling that and mention of fanfic would result in sneering. I could be wrong, of course.

OmicronPersei8 Wed 15-Feb-12 13:29:16

*and any

I adored the books the first time I read them. As soon as I'd finished them I started feeling grubby and soiled grin.

As Cleolinda puts it, 'I enjoyed the first book--and hated the second--more than I expected. The third one just made me scream. Let's not even get started on the fourth one. And yet I am hopelessly addicted to them, and waiting for Midnight Sun as if it were Christmas.'

Ok cover me, I'm going in...

The videos on this page are fab. Stop. Dazzle time

NeonFlapjacks Wed 15-Feb-12 14:13:58

DD asked me yesterday if she could have my Twilight book to read. I've no problem with her reading it - I'm pretty sure she knows the difference between RL and made-up stories, but I know that a lot of it will go over her head and she won't get that feeling of being swept up in the romance.
I think she'd be better waiting a few years to get that real teenage-infatuation thing. I think it'd spoil it for her to read it now - I'm not articulating this very well and being unreasonable aren't I?

OmicronPersei8 Wed 15-Feb-12 14:21:15

I get you, Neon. I won't let dd watch hp as I think she's too young for the darker themes which come up. I'd rather she read the books at the right age and really appreciate them. The right age being Not Yet, of course.
