After just shy of 3 years from application, we meet our little man in the morning!
We have moved to the other end of the country for Intros and in 9 days we take him home as our little one.
Excited? Not sure that's the best description - swinging one way then the other, feel hormonal, just want it to all turn out ok.
How are you sparklebum?

Lilka Sun 07-Jul-13 21:27:38

How wonderful grin

What you're feeling is completely normal

Best of luck for tomorrow smile If you have the energy let us know how it goes

How old is your little man?

allthingswillpass Sun 07-Jul-13 21:47:47

Thank you Lilka, He's 2. smile

Moomoomie Sun 07-Jul-13 21:51:33

Wow. So happy for you.
Dd1 who is 14 and I where just talking about our first meeting. It is a day I will never forget, so wonderful.
Hope the next few days go smoothly for you and you will soon be one happy family.
Be kind to yourselves, it's going to be a roller coaster of a journey.

Moomoomie Sun 07-Jul-13 21:52:39

Oh, and dd1 was 2 years old when she came home.

How wonderful, hope it all goes super well.

Middlesexmummy Sun 07-Jul-13 22:14:59

Good luck x

Devora Sun 07-Jul-13 22:23:42

Good luck! Just to say: don't worry if your emotions are not what you'd expect tomorrow. When we met our dd, my dp said she instantly knew, "This is the one!" whereas I was oddly numb and tired throughout introductions. (Rather like I was after childbirth, in fact.)

It will be a rollercoaster week. Try to sleep well, and take care of yourself. Best of luck and let us know how it goes smile

Good luck, we were just aboutabout to start intro this time last year. Can't believe its almost a year!

Moomoomie Mon 08-Jul-13 13:15:25

Thinking of you today, hope all goes well.

allthingswillpass Mon 08-Jul-13 17:07:35

We are back from meeting our little boy!
F A N T A S T I C!
We couldn't have wished for a better start. Perfect weather, Devine foster carers, all low key, relaxed and we just watched & played with LO for 3 hours!
Beginners luck I expect but feeling better than I did this morning!
Roll on tomorrow!

Panadbois Mon 08-Jul-13 19:48:24

That's lovely, good luck with everything x

Middlesexmummy Mon 08-Jul-13 20:07:39

That's really good news , how long are intro s and when does he join u

Moomoomie Mon 08-Jul-13 20:30:59

That sounds wonderful. It really makes a difference if you can build a good relationship with the FC.
Let's hope this is the beginning of wonderful things for you all.

allthingswillpass Mon 08-Jul-13 21:01:53

Hi intros will be 8 days and then home!
Fingers crossed xxxx

Happiestinwellybobs Mon 08-Jul-13 21:08:45

Good FC's make so much difference. I hope it goes well for you and enjoy every minute. I remember being so totally and utterly exhausted that week that we could not even speak when we got home after the fifth day. So take any opportunity to relax.

Good luck smile

Lilka Mon 08-Jul-13 21:28:04

Sounds brilliant, good luck for all the rest new mummy smile

Sparklebum Mon 08-Jul-13 21:48:53

So glad you had a good day, bet you can't wait for tomorrow now.

Our intros have been pushed back slightly to Wednesday and then we bring her home on Monday.

Have fun tomorrow.

Moomoomie Sat 13-Jul-13 16:09:19

Continuing to think of you with your intros. Hope you are enjoying the good weather .

allthingswillpass Sun 14-Jul-13 16:43:49

Well, what can I say! We are now nearing the end of day 7 of intros.
We have been matched with the most beautiful, lovely, bright, funny typical 2 yr old little boy and we will take him home on Tuesday - unbelievable!
We are 200 miles away from home which I have to say does have its advantages - no one knows what you're doing and we don't 'bump' into any one we know!
Our intros have been quite different I reckon, we had 4 hours on day 1 and working up to yesterday where we had LO for 12 hours on our own, he had a habdab last night but I really think he was just totally knackered.
We certainly haven't mastered bath time that's for sure!
Can't wait to go home now. grin

FamiliesShareGerms Sun 14-Jul-13 16:47:52

Belatedly, glad to hear intros are going well. Hope the journey back and settling into your home goes well too

Lilka Sun 14-Jul-13 17:46:26

Great update, glad it's going so well smile

Happiestinwellybobs Sun 14-Jul-13 19:18:26

Lovely to hear its going so well smile

Middlesexmummy Sun 14-Jul-13 20:36:17

Hi all willing
Been thinking about you all week and am really pleased its working out well , what happened at bath time ?

allthingswillpass Sun 14-Jul-13 22:23:35

Hi middle!

3 adults at bath time when he's used to one I reckon!
Tried a new tact tonight and DH did it alone with much greater success even though LO was totally knackered.

Must say, the weather has massively helped!

Sparklebum Sun 14-Jul-13 22:53:01

Glad things are going so well with you. Its moving day for us tomorrow - our little lady is amazing but.I think we've all found the last 5 days a bit overwhelming at times.

Have fun on moving day smile

allthingswillpass Mon 15-Jul-13 08:25:48

Best of luck Sparkle!
I hope today is good for you, let me know how it goes!
What part of the country are you in? Pm me if you like. Xxxx

Happiestinwellybobs Mon 15-Jul-13 08:53:41

Good luck today Sparkle - an emotional day ahead I suspect, and then the real fun begins smile

Sparklebum Mon 15-Jul-13 09:50:32

I feel so overwhelmed - hoping that's normal sad .

Happiestinwellybobs Mon 15-Jul-13 13:13:42

Completely and utterly normal. The intros week for us was just exhausting, at times we could barely speak when we got home. The day we brought her home was just overwhelming. The FCs were amazing and had told us ahead how they wanted us to leave, which meant no awkwardness, but 100 metres down the road we both burst into tears and had to pull over.

And then the "being a parent" starts. DD came with "instructions" grin which helped us with a routine (she was 10 months) but as for the rest of it, we'll we just got through those first few weeks. Someone on here once said that they felt like they were minding someone else's child for the first few weeks and that really resonated with me.

Don't try and be perfect, take time for yourself when you can, and never ever be afraid to ask for help. There are some very wise people on here.

Moomoomie Mon 15-Jul-13 21:06:05

I am so pleased intros have gone well. I understand the overwhelming tiredness from everyone.
Hope tomorrow goes well.
Have just realised that my older two dd's actually moved in forever, 12 years ago tomorrow. So snap!
Look after yourselves, thank you for updating.

Middlesexmummy Mon 15-Jul-13 21:22:42

Hi congratulations to all of you about to embark on the journey . Hope NOT to see you on the sleep board now !! Lol

Happiestinwellybobs Tue 16-Jul-13 09:09:02

Hey Sparklebum. Hope everything is going okay smile

Sparklebum Tue 16-Jul-13 13:45:47

Good luck today allthings.

much better this end today. A reasonably uneventful night. Totally shattered though smile . cuddles this morning made up for the tiredness smile .

She's letting me comfort her when upset so that's good. I truly believe that she knew what was happening yesterday even although she's just two. Felt so sad for her yesterday sad
