Short term fostering of babies?

(4 Posts)

Hiya,
I have been looking at fostering lately, we have 3 children in a 3 bedroomed house, although we do technically have a spare room for now as DD is still with us.

If we applied to foster but it be feasable to have DD move into her room and foster babies so they are in a cot in our room, therefore sorting the bedroom problem?

How likely is it that they would need baby fosterers? I seem to read that the need is for people to foster older children and also children of ethnic backgrounds.

We would happily foster older children but would we need a nother bedroom?

Any advice greatfully recieved.

Nevermind just been told we are not eligable

Why are you not eligible?

From the information you have provided you would not be considered for fostering because of your lack of bedroom space and the ages of your own children. We would expect your youngest child to be at least two years of age in which she would have her own bedroom space and the two boys would still have to share. We also require a 2 year gap in ages and so we would not place a child the same age of your own, meaning, even if your daughter were two, you would be looking at children two years older than your eldest, or possibly babies. Even as a baby carer you would need a spare bedroom as foster children do not share with other children unless part of a sibling group.
