Hello,

We are at the very initial stages & are attending an information morning soon - what should we expect? Will the social workers want to ask us questions at this point or will it be very much just sitting & listening to a presentation?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Jessica

We attended an info evening recently and found it really informative. They gave a presentation on the history of adoption, how it's changed over the years and what the current 'climate' is like. They also had an adopter come and speak to us about his experience and gave us a bit more detail about the kind of children waiting for adoption and their needs (and therefore what's required of adoptive parents).

We could ask questions throughout and this was quite helpful. The SWs didn't talk to any of us individually about our situations, though we could ask questions afterward if we wanted to. The more detailed discussions come later at your pre-Stage 1 meeting at your home with a SW.

Hope this helps!
