Which photos for the photo book?

Hi guys,

I'm totally jumping the gun, approval panel isn't for another 3 weeks yet, however I like to focus on something to take my mind off it. I'm just wondering which photos did you put in the photo book for your child if you did one? We will put in photos of us, our dogs, the house, bedroom, garden and local park. Did you put in photos of grandparents, aunts uncles cousins etc? Or just limit it to yourself if single or yourself and partner if a couple?

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I have looked but can't find any other threads, only ones about the kind of book, we've already bought ours.

I know it will most likely depend on the age of the child, which we of course don't know yet and could be waiting a while, I accept that, it's just that if we are going to use photos of other people I'd rather be prepared.

For our younger one, we just had photos of us, plus one of my parents.

For our elder one, age 8, we had a double page with small photos of various family and one set of friends, accompanied with a snippet of info about each one - e.g. Here is your cousin Peter, he loves batman.

For school age one we also put photo of school, library, and local supermarket (to show I bought food).

We just had pictures of the people who live in the house. Lots of action and fun photos of playing in the park etc. Also a picture of the car and questions to keep interest e.g. who is in the paddling pool? Do you like playing in the park? What is dc doing? Oh and I pasted in a few Cbeebies characters that the fc said he liked into the car, paddling pool etc.

We were told categorically (by your social worker) not to include grandparents because you are introducing them to you and your house (essentially for introductions week) and not for their lives with you. We put in: one of each of us, house and car, lounge with toys, bedroom, garden, park and one of both of us. This all fitted very nicely into the Tomy butterfly book.

We had the butterfly Tomy book! Which only allows 8 photos and you record your message.

We had one of all of us together, one of DH in his sports kit doing the sport he likes, me in my sports kit doing Takewan-do in our hallway, one of our dd doing something she likes, one of the cat, one of our house, one of the local park and one of his bedroom.

We had this ready before being matched and once matched we changed the cat photo (as cat had changed from a kitten to a cat) and changed his bedroom as we had adapted it to his tastes.

Try not to do too much, depends on age. We were told to prepare a second book, not sure when that would be used, maybe during intros, of regular friends etc. We started collecting photos but to be honest one he was home we just showed him photos on the pc of family ect because they came to visit.

We also did a scrap book of our stuff (us) plus pictures of what he liked (animals/Thomas the Tank etc) to show we knew what he would like.
