Ok, this is going to be long and rambling but I hope someone will be able to help me clear my brain fog!

I have one DD aged 4 and 3 DSC 15, 11 and 10. I have a DP and although he is not DD's bio father he has been there her whole life and is fab. I had to have a hysterectomy 2 days after DD was born.

We have always wanted another and a friends sister ( my friend too) has seriously offered to be my surrogate, not a flash in the pan thing she has joined an agency and done lots of research .

She wants to do it via IVF so baby would be mine and DP's biologically, my questions mostly centre around money, how much etc is reasonable, how do we get started, pitfalls etc.

It's just so daunting and scary but super exciting! Has anyone had a baby by surrogacy, or been a surrogate? Any good weal sites forums etc?

Thank you if anyone has made it through this saga!! Grin

Hi I don't have any answers for you but just wanted to wish you lots of luck on your journey. Surrogacy was something we too considered but we decided that adoption was our best option. Let us know how you get on! Xxx

There have been surrogecy threads on here under adoption and I have seen them under conception on Mumsnet too.

You would need to search back for them.

You may find more traffic on the conception threads.

You need to talk to a clinic as it goes throug an ethics committee for surrogacy cases, acceptable payment to surrogate is up to £10 k for expenses, loss of earnings, childcare, enhanced diet, clothes etc
The ivf costs are at least the same I'd think? You'd be stimulated and harvested from and shed be implanted
My DD's is straight surrogate baby as none of us wanted to go the ivf route
