I watched this video and read this story, The girl in the window. Very moving.

I read that when it came out. Couldn't even get on the website at first, so many people went to read it their site crashed twice. So very moving. I cried.

There's a book now, called 'Dani's Story' which tells the whole story in much more detail. I have the book, it's good

And the newspaper did an update in 2011 which is also very interesting. Three years later, the girl in the window learns to connect

It's very powerful. It's a great adoption story. It's also a very clear demonstration of the appalling effect neglect can have on a person. There's still a belief frequently held by people, that neglect is not (ever) as bad as physical and sexual abuse, and that neglect is not as 'damaging' as physical and sexual abuse. It just isn't true
