What happens during medicals?

Hi - we have one coming up very soon.

What happened during yours?
What questions did they ask?
How long did they last?

TIA for any pointers anyone can give as to what they might entail!

Mine was quite straight forward. The Dr had been sent a list of things to cover by the la.
Height, weight, blood pressure and we went through my medical history.

Ours was like cedar plus I had blood tests, eyes, ears checked, breast examination, lung capacity test thing, "pull my finger test?!?" ( and had to bend over and touch my toes, having unfortunately worn a thong!!!!! )

It was all fine. Well apart from DH being diagnosed with diabetes - but the thought of it possibly affecting getting DD spurred him on to changing his lifestyle enormously :)

My GP seemed to think the requirements of mine were a bit excessive - she said she'd done fostering medicals before and was surprised mine required breast exam, all the spine and posture stuff, something involving her prodding me and asking if I could feel it to check I didn't have numb bits (?) - we both speculated whether the LA had a lot of people who had numb bits of their bodies they hadn't noticed til their adoption medical?! It took about 45 minutes I think. The only issue was I hadn't realised there was an eye test and I hadn't brought my glasses! I don't really remember her asking questions, more the physical examination bits, I think they get the info they need from your notes.

Longest bit was waiting to pay afterwards while various practice staff tried to decide how much to charge - the LA had said a fee the GMC suggest it should be, but no one knew whether that was with or without VAT, so that involved a bit of faffing. The medical was fine, although I didn't get to see the report after it just went to the LA, I don't know if that's normal. Good luck!

Same as for Cedar. They'd already filled most of it in from my history, so on the day it was weight/height/BP, listened to my chest, looked into my eyes etc. And a urine test, which they then lost (three times). (THREE!)
