Recieved my PAR today sw wants to know what I think of it. How do I know if its any good? I have never seen anyone elses so have no comparison. It has relevant examples and is clear and consistant but I dont read it and think ahh thats a lovely report. It seems quite clinical although factual. Dont know what to say to her, cant really change it now. How did others feel?

You're looking to see if it's accurate, and if the SW has misinterpreted anything you've told him/her, or if they have misrepresented you in any way. The SW is responsible for ensuring there is enough on there to demonstrate everything that is needed - you just need to be sure it's accurate. Although, if it feels too clinical to you, perhaps you could raise this gently with the SW - they might have good reasons for it to be written in that way.

Yep, what Never said. You need to check for any factual inaccuracies, and check you agree with what has been written about you

If it's reasonably accurate, relevant and strung together in good English, then you're doing well I reckon.

I think I was too critical on first read. I have re read and it is definately accurate and doesnt misrepresent me at all. She has put some lovely examples of my childhood and has not laboured on some stressful times. I think I was just expecting an ahh moment as I have heard other people see they felt like crying when they read theirs.
I think I am just hard to please! lol

Well, a lot's riding on it, so of course you're anxious to get it right,

How many meetings did you have with your SW to get to this stage? I am just curious as we have had quite a few meetings and are going through the PAR form.

Maybe you could ask to have something added to the report in your own words
Like you right a statement about why you want to adopt or why you feel you would make a good parent. Our sw has got us to write various different things to go into the report to help the panel get a feel for us as people.
Whatever you decide good luck at panel x

Old thread....funnychic was approved quite a few months ago now! :)

Cheltenhamgirl....the norm is, I think, (in most cases) around 8-12 sessions, sometimes a few more or less.
I had considerably more, for reasons that I won't go into on here!
