I have said this on another thread and I know I am not alone.

I think he is strangely attractive. And a lovely deep posh voice and seems very clever and witty.

Signing in, and reporting for Jay-fancying duty.

herecomesthsun Thu 07-Mar-13 11:14:39

really?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid Thu 07-Mar-13 11:15:01

<runs away screaming with horror>

tigerlilygrr Thu 07-Mar-13 11:15:47

I'm in. Love him!

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

GetOrf Thu 07-Mar-13 11:42:51

haha this is a bit of a polarise opinion.

I think he is lovely. And I loved Claire as well. Imagine having her as a mum.

Sleepysocks Thu 07-Mar-13 11:51:08

Hello my name is Sleepysocks and I quite fancy <whispers> Jay Rayner........

I love him. And may I repeat on this thread also, that the other day, there was a thread which recognised that in the trailer (so in some of the scenes) for the film The Tourist, Johnny Depp looked JUST LIKE JAY RAYNER.

They'd probably done that deliberately: bored of the piratical Keith Richards look, his people searched out another great icon to emulate. Jay.

Just watch the first 45 secs or so of this and you will henceforth mix up your Jays and your Johnnies

Isittimeforgin Thu 07-Mar-13 11:57:16

Hmm...I might have to sit on the fence here because, while I can definitely see he has 'something', I'm not sure I actually fancy him - although I do think he'd be naughty and that's always a plus blush

Lottapianos Thu 07-Mar-13 12:00:08

I enjoy his food reviews and he's funny and seems lovely but really don't see the appeal in a lustful way.

MrsPnut Thu 07-Mar-13 12:03:00

Ohhh rubs thighs I love Jay Rayner, someone that enjoys food that much is definitely sexy.

GetOrf Thu 07-Mar-13 12:10:56

They'd probably done that deliberately: bored of the piratical Keith Richards look, his people searched out another great icon to emulate. Jay.

I love that grin

Pagwatch Thu 07-Mar-13 12:14:46

No. He would spend all his time talking about technique and sniffing his own armpits.

auldspinster Thu 07-Mar-13 12:24:50

I like his reviews and he seems like a nice chap but really? Dan Pearson on the other hand...

MerryMingeWhingesAgain Thu 07-Mar-13 12:24:58

I'd love to go out for a steak with him, he really seems to appreciate a nice lump of meet.

I married a non-meat eater. <insert bad joke about him still eating fish here>

auldspinster Thu 07-Mar-13 12:25:49

Even though i suspect DP plays for the other team.

I suspect that Isittimeforgin got it on the nose there. He just looks like he'd be pure filth, doesn't he?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid Thu 07-Mar-13 12:26:44

I must concede that I was sorely disappointed with Johnny in The Tourist and now you mention the Raynor resemblance, my regard for him has been extinguished forever.

There. I hope you're happy sad

Isittimeforgin Thu 07-Mar-13 12:35:23

Glad it's not just me then Hazel grin

tigerlilygrr Thu 07-Mar-13 12:37:54

Just think of the breakfast in bed!

Katiepoes Thu 07-Mar-13 12:38:55

Ooh me too. DH thinks I am mental, he's a tall skinny blond chap and can't fathom what I can see in Jay Raynor. It's the filth thing for sure, you just KNOW you'd not be bored. Plus he'd make you a nice tea.

GetOrf Thu 07-Mar-13 12:48:31

Oh yes he would be filthy wouldn't he. Can you imagine that voice mumbling what he was going to get up to <shriek>

i don't see the resemblance to Johnny Depp other than the hair. Mind you I think Depp looks like a lily livered milksop anyway. Not a real man. Not like Jay.

Isittimeforgin Thu 07-Mar-13 13:00:08

Mmmm filthy with big hands - I reckon he's a bend you over the table type!!!!

Sara157 Thu 07-Mar-13 13:03:26

God, yes, he's gorgeous. Also quite fancy John Torode (is it the food thing?) though fairly certain Jay would be better in bed.

Oh, John would be crap. He'd be too concerned with his hair I think.

patsky Thu 07-Mar-13 13:19:31

Oi! I spotted him first. In a pub around 25 years ago. So hands off girls. The leg-rubbing is reserved for me. Pat, aka Mrs Rayner

Really?!!!
Please let this be true!
Did you get a google alert to say there's been some Mn chitter-chatter about your man, and you've registered to assert your claim? grin

Do you like the film The Tourist, Pat?

patsky Thu 07-Mar-13 13:44:31

Yes. He's mine, all mine I say!

patsky Thu 07-Mar-13 13:46:34

Haven't seen it yet. Jay was away filming so long that I'm really rather tired of hearing about it.

Oh, I am going to be so disappointed if you're on a wind-up, PAtsky.

How do you feel, that random internet people are thinking nice but naughty things about yer man?

patsky Thu 07-Mar-13 13:50:10

I'm real. Honest. And while I might wish to stake my claim, I think he deserves the ego boost. Twitter chat can be very cruel, so it's nice to see something kind. Though keep that lust under wraps!

BeCool Thu 07-Mar-13 13:53:34

<<waves>>

and here I was thinking he was all mine and the rest of the women in the world though he was hideous! grin

I think he's extremely gorgeous and sexy <<blushes>> - like a handsome MPW

bigTillyMint Thu 07-Mar-13 13:53:56

GetOrfshock

patsky Thu 07-Mar-13 13:54:28

So do I. He's a diamond, too. Not just a pretty face.

ethelb Thu 07-Mar-13 13:57:48

Oh thank God for this. I keep on having FILTHY dreams about him. He's all man isn't he?

tigerlilygrr Thu 07-Mar-13 13:59:54

Patsky I hope you're for real as you sound great! Give mr patsky a big hug from us!

patsky Thu 07-Mar-13 14:03:10

I think he 's getting the message. Thanks to you all. Though watch it. Menopausal woman alert. You never know what I might do.

Mominatrix Thu 07-Mar-13 14:05:47

Hmmmm. I've had dinner with him several times - not alone, but in a group. He's lovely to talk to, but definitely not sexy or even handsome.

Poledra Thu 07-Mar-13 14:07:41

As I stated on your other thread, GetOrf, I too have come over all unnecessary when watching Jay on MasterChef. He has a lovely voice, twinkly eyes and is very witty.

Imagine having Claire as a MIL - I bet she'd've been fab!

patsky Thu 07-Mar-13 14:07:53

Ooooo, mysterious. Was I there too?

You all need therapy! Not fanciable, although I love his reviews/writing, in the flesh, not so much.

ArcticRoll Thu 07-Mar-13 14:11:10

I knew him at university- didn't think he was at all fanciable then-think he's definitely improved with age.

patsky Thu 07-Mar-13 14:13:21

Oh, ArticRoll, not enen taken by the sleek flat top?

ArcticRoll Thu 07-Mar-13 14:17:47

patksi-didn't realise that you were on thread-don't want to offend!-just meant that he is one of those blokes that improve with age whilst I look far worse than my Leeds days!

patsky Thu 07-Mar-13 14:23:31

Don't worry, not offended at all. Would be a dull old world if we all had the same tastes. To say nothing of bloody. Can you imagine the fights?

Poledra Thu 07-Mar-13 14:27:15

Looks like Jay's enjoying this... https://twitter.com/jayrayner1 <arf>

SirEdmundFrillary Thu 07-Mar-13 14:29:23

No.Too much meat.

Haberdashery Thu 07-Mar-13 14:30:39

Haha! I'm not going to say what I was going to say now.

Sara157 Thu 07-Mar-13 16:22:53

You have to love the internet. In the good old days you could have a crush on someone on TV all by yourself...now you get to share, discuss fantasies, and communicate it all to the man in question and his wife! Fantastic.

GetOrf Thu 07-Mar-13 16:29:01

Oh my christ this is hilarious. I love the twitter stuff. He he the real affirmed Jay in twitter then? <Suspicious>

God I am half tempted to join twitter so I can voice my approval to the man himself.

Why does Jay review Cheltenham restaurants a lot I wonder. I always entertain myself with thoughts that I will bump into him there one day, sad cow that I am. God knows there's bugger all in cHeltenham.

PERHAPS HE IS PLANNING TO MOVE HERE

GetOrf Thu 07-Mar-13 17:01:10

I like him even mroe after reading that twitter feed and that fact he rather enjoys being objectified by us lot. grin

<worships>

BestIsWest Thu 07-Mar-13 17:42:29

Oh my god I thought it was just me! I have a special fantasy about him coming to visit...

Badvoc Thu 07-Mar-13 17:44:03

Oooohhh...no.
Slap a dress on him and he looks just like his late mother!

SwedishEdith Thu 07-Mar-13 17:50:24

On the fence - 5 years ago it would have been a straightforward "Nooooooo", but recently... He's kind of joli-laid isn't he? hee hee at writing this knowing he's reading I assume it's down to me getting older and less choosy Actually, I can pinpoint it to 2 events:
1. writing that the chocolate brioche from Aldi was "filthy" (it is) and;
2. his mum's last words about protecting the NHS. His mum was ace.

LadyIsabellaWrotham Thu 07-Mar-13 17:54:55

Very very weird to have the object of a MN Crush Of Shame thread interacting with us live confused

JR once walked off with the last portion of salted caramel ice cream from Brixton Village when I rather wanted one myself, so I'm still slightly bitter, OTOH I think he's responsible for the gelateria stocking salted caramel in the first place, so he's forgiven.

teatrolley Thu 07-Mar-13 17:58:54
GetOrf Thu 07-Mar-13 18:07:15

I really love that comment from Claire Rayner re NHS.

I do hope that that's really his wife grin

He has such a great turn of phrase, I said on the other thread, dd and I roared when he said on masterchef profs about a terrible pudding 'this is like something served at a suburban wedding filled with regret' or something. Very witty.

OMG I think MN Towers are trying to kibosh the Rayner-love. Are they haterz or did they just want to monopolise the lovely Mrs R? Yes indeed, they only went and BANNED ME, just as patsky was on the thread. (It was either that, or they objected to my pondering whether the DM had outed Sir Cliff - I tried to start a thread musing exactly that, and I was bounced off. sad)

Anywho, they have said that it was a genuine mistake, so I am allowed back to play. But now patsky has gone.

patsky, if you are still reading this - I LOVE that you came on to play. You are a terrific sport, and you are indeed a lucky lady, married to a lovely, talented and witty man!

Oh, it's not anywho is it? It's anyhoo.
Bugger, I am not even down with the kids from 14 years ago. No wonder I was banished, I am just not cool enough.

1944girl Thu 07-Mar-13 22:52:26

I really like to watch Jay Rayner, I don't fancy him, I just like him.
He looks very much like his mother, even has the same mannerisms.

BeCool Fri 08-Mar-13 12:59:30

patsky is one lucky lady smile

patsky Sat 09-Mar-13 13:04:16

@BeCool - yup

teatrolley Sat 09-Mar-13 14:56:03

I saw from the link that you're going to CentreParcs. Enjoy grin

patsky - you're going to Centre Parcs???
You do know that has a totally different meaning on Mumsnet, don't you?

ElkiesBrook Sat 09-Mar-13 15:08:03

<grabs overnight bag, spare set of car keys and heads for CP>

anyone know which one PM me grin

teatrolley Sat 09-Mar-13 15:18:51

It's on the Twitter link, I'm not stalking the woman! Someone has already helpfully pointed out the MN meaning.

Speaking of stalking, do we need to stage an intervention Elsies? grin
