Do you have an Ektotp or a Poang?

what colour covers fo you have?
Mine is swamp coloured. As is the carpet. Beech bookcases and TV stand. Green curtains and Olive 'feature wall' i know. I think i was hungover when we went to B&Q
Anyway. I'm fantasy Ikea shopping and fancy a splash of colour. If I happen to find a spare £400 down the back of the sofa while I'm washing the swampy covers.
I have a black Poang. I am sat in it now.
Don't a very large proportion of the population have a Poang ?
We have got the red cord, it's v cheerful and nice. I love it but will look dire with your swamp gear
Oh ours is ektorp
I have got spare set in almost white-pink. It's horrid. Got it off ebay. If you want that you're welcome.
Ektorp in a sandy beige. I'm on my second set of covers (first lot were blue) and I think it's time for a new set.
We have a Poang chair in DS2's bedroom. Nearly everyone I know has one (except my parents). Ours is cream. PIL's Poang chair is red, like a leather effect, and I love it. DS1 has a Poang chair in his bedroom too!
IL's have an Ektorp sofa bed in their holiday home in a blue and white and sage green stripes. Its very seaside-y, and I like it very much.
Thsnks Outside. White/pink would get grubby I think.
The good thing about swamp is it hides the filth well.
I fully understand
We have a white extorp (i think, or something similar) it's quite good actually. I just chuck it in the wash with a load of bleach and line dry and it looks lovely. In the winter I chuck a blanket over it!
We have an Ektorp sofa in dark brown. I made bright red cushion covers out of that soft fleecy blanket Ikea sells. Our living room is like an Ikea show room (except much messier).
I'd like pink flowers or stripes or patchwork. DH says no
git.
We have an Ektorp corner sofa in navy. Love it. I did campaign for white at the start, and secretly hanker, but I love navy too.
tewisavestgeday what do yu mean when you say you chuck bleach in? We have White and it does come up ok with a wash, but it could do with a good wash right now and am intrigued y bung bleach in too. In the drum? What sort of bleach? Thanks
We have two ektorps. We have the sandy beige covers and the dark brown covers, so we can alternate when we are washing them. At the moment we have one of each, due to apple juice disaster yesterday!
winter I just put a big scoop of vanish in with the washing powder. You need a sunny day to hang them out on for it to work properly though. (and I think they're slightly more white than they used to be!)
Both in brown leather <am beyond the pale>.
I like the wipe-cleanability, but sometimes wish we'd gone for fabric so could change the covers.
Have you found the sites that make custom covers for ikea stuff in alternative fabrics.
I'm currently lusting after a marimekko sofa....

DOI: I have no links to this company. Nor have I ever ordered from them but I am contemplating it!
We have a red cord Ektorp, which I love (used to be sandy beige which was nice, but a bit boring) and a dark brown leather Poang.
My house is like a really messy and not particularly clean Ikea showroom.
Yes we have a poang with dark red leather effect cover. I'm really glad I got it when I did because they don't do that one anymore. I find with ikea some of the nicest stuff is often limited edition.
Here I come with my Ikea lounge:
- brown leather Poang rocking chair
- brown regular Poang beech
- black Soderhamn sofa (no arm rests)
- Stornas antique stain extendable table with matching chiars
- this rug
Everything is basically black/brown/beechy wood (the antique stain table is a bit different but complimentary) with solid wood floors, wood fireplace with a black inset,
So soft furnishings are all cream/neutral/grey/yellow/gold
- grey sheepskin on Poang with leather cushion
- gold throw on other Poang
- two of these, the most shockingly expensive soft furnishing item I have ever owned on the Soderhamn
- these v chintzy frou frou curtains which have massive nostalgic value for me as they are very like the wallpaper of the room I shared with my grandmother until I was five.. I worried they would be too "Laura Ashley" with the Poangs but I feel they kind of keep the room in balance - the room has a large window at either end so there is lots of natural light.
Other than that, there is basically a small white ikea kiddies table and a white storage bench that I am one day going to make a cushion for.
Can you tell I've JUST done this? I am sort of still at the in-love-with-it stage
I am currently sitting on my cream Poang - it's about twelve years old, on it's second set of covers and will soon need a new set, and it is still my favourite chair to watch telly in. Nothing compares to it - I love the bounce.
Everyone I know has a Poang, even my parents have one. And they have a telly the size of a matchbox because they don't do modern. But they have a Poang.
The boys have a poang in there room. It used to have a cream seat, but it developed some suspicious stains. They now have a bright red one.
My parents inherited a couple of them with their house, when they bought it. They had well worn red covers on them, which made perfect beds for large dogs when I treated them to some nice cream textured covers to replace them with.
THEIR room. I know the difference, dammit!
3 brown/beige Ekorp sofas and a cream Poang.
It was the cheap option and seems to be relatively child-proof.
A grass-green Ektorp armchair in playroom, a Karlstaad beige sofa in kitchen, a poang in DS2's room...
My whole house is furnished in Ikea!!
We have an adult poang in blue in ds room, and a kids poang in the lounge. The kids one only comes in beige, so we are going to make a new brighter cover for it!
We have both but the poang arm chair in white/cream looks terrible now and it's only been six months! Any ideas of how to cover it up? Anyone make custom covers for it?
Yes, both.
Two two-seater ektorps with a set of beige covers on at the mo (boring), and a spare set of (lovely) red covers. And a cream Poang.
Am going to order an Ikea kitchen on Saturday too
.
<side tracks, any one else got one? Are they any good?>
